a friend told me that Square-Enix officially announced FF12 to be the last final fantasy. Is this true or is he talking absolute bull****???

I can't comprehend why Square would put so much effort into revamping the gameplay so much (effectively keeping the series from becoming stale, or giving it a rebirth, if you will) for the next game in the series, if they had no intentions to develop future installments.

Anythings possible, but I've heard of no such announcement. I'll keep my ears open.
