FF XI Play online

I've just got Final Fantasy XI and I need to know whether you can just play on your computer or if you can only play online?

Also if you have to play online, does anyone know the registration fee?

You can only play FINAL FANTASY XI online. The fee varies around the world, but, for you, it should be around 25 AUSD a month.

I thought the monthly fees were the same all over the world. I pay 13 USD just like the US, even though this is a much more expensive country than the US.
