The first Breath of Fire was made by Square. I've never been a fan though.

I loved being able to make your players morph in part II. Great game! III is my favorite though.

The first Breath of Fire was also made by Capcom, but only translated by Square. It's still very good. I would probably rank it second in the series behind Breath of Fire II.

III was fairly good, but I was bothered by some of the puzzles and the character switching. IV I flat out did not like. I hear good things about Dragon Quarter but have yet to play it.

I liked Breath Of Fire IV for a short while after it was released. But I wouldn't return to it any day soon. It was okay, but never awe-inspiring.

I kinda gave up on the oasis at 3...and then my brother deleted the save...didnt really bother afterwords!

I liked 3 the best you have the traditional Ryu and Nina!Then there is a scientist named Momo. An akward plant named Peco.And my two favorites,rei the weretiger and the ALL POWERFUL NO WEAKNESS GARR! He made the game too easy!

WRONG! It is made by capcom. The only thing square did was help to bring it to the states.

EDIT: Now for the series. I like 1. I dare not touch 5...the system sounds like it would piss me off.

The system where one battle takes 4 hours, and there are battles every ten seconds, and then you get tired of battling and stop because it pisses you off so badly, then have trouble later in the game because you didn't level because the battles were friggin retarded? Yeah, I fail to understand that system. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of plot either.

The best modern way I can think of is through the Wii U virtual shop.

Growing up I played the GBA version.

I played the SNES version and then I got the GBA version, thinking that they would have improved the translation. They did not.

Excellent game, though.

I had the SNES version originally, and I'm currently replaying it on the Switch through the SNES Virtual Console subscription.

I meant to try it out with a fan translation, but that fell through. I just acquired Grandpa the Whale and I'm power-leveling/gold grinding to power through the Spar quest. Helps that there is a big difficulty spike once the world map opens up. I'm probably going to hold off on recruiting Dias/Bleu until later in the game so I can let other characters shine a bit more. I've already recruited half the people I need for Township as well.
