I spelled the word "answer" as "awnser" for the first 14 years of my life, but nobody ever corrected me. I only realized it was wrong once I started using computers and spell check. So, I think we as society should be thankful when people laugh at our spelling, because it means we have suffered shame and will be sure to never make that same mistake again.

What words do you spell horribly?

I was flabbergasted earlier this year when I started English IV and I realised that I've been incorrect in using "atleast" all these years. I've always been a good English student, but every now and then I forget to write them as two words.

At least. A-hah, I've got it.

I used to say "Humerous" instead of "Humorous". Eg - "I find your joke to be humerous".

Thanks to Nait, I don't do that any more.

Neccessary. And I don't think I even spelled it right there. I hate words with 2 or 3 double con...non-vowels.

noone? No One? Nowon? No-One?Not nearly as bad as the mass ignorance surrounding the word definitely, but a lot of people have no clue about this one, too. It's "no one." Two words, no hyphen.

I probably spell plenty of words wrong and don't even know it. Recently I've been having trouble spelling even easy words. I'm losing it.

I just plain old can't spell. I need one of those microphones so that I can just talk and the computer will type the words for me. That way I can always say what I want because far too often I don't use adjectives that I would use in real life due to my horrible spelling abilities...and those are the ones I know are spelled wrong to a great extent.

Words I will never be able to spell properly:

Refridgerator

Resturant

Definately (Several people, especially Kishi and Rainecloud, correct me in-thread or via PM on this one and I still never ever spell it right)

Not nearly as bad as the mass ignorance surrounding the word definitely, but a lot of people have no clue about this one, too. It's "no one." Two words, no hyphen. I was under the impression that the hyphen was a British invention, much like the u in "colour."

I only recently discovered that "defense" and "offense" don't have C's in them.
They do in British English ;)

Relevant, or is it relavent? The dictionary is less than an arm's length away, and yet I never use it when posting. Perhaps I'll make an exception this time...

It's relevant, apparently. I'll probably forget that by tomorrow morning, though.

I'm surprised none of you have come up with "alot" yet, because a lot of the people on this forum writes it that way. :p

Oh, and I had problems with definitely until Psy taught me. I also pronounced "know" with a K until I was 10 years old, but English is my second language, and I hardly spoke English until I was 10, which is when we started having English as a subject.

Mr. Graves

I used to type "alot" a lot. Stupid lazy grammer.

I had a long streak of misspelling "Definitely" when I was a newb here, but then I saw Ryukawaii make an annoucement about it and it cleared everything up.

"Grammer" always was a hang up for me as well.
