For those of you who haven't read any of his works, I highly recommend them. "Death of a Salesman" was probably the greatest play of the 20th century.

I was sad. I only read one of his plays, The Crucible, but I didn't really like it. But it still makes me sad.

I was quite saddened to learn this news yesterday. We've lost a great American.

Arthur Miller was one of the giants, both in American history and in literature history as well. He wrote no less than 30 plays, almost all of which were well received, and continued to write until his death, as I've read.
Looking back on his life, his truly was one of a kind, he won a Pulitzer before he was 40, he was married to Marilyn Monroe, he remained relevant and perhaps gained more credibility as he got older, and somehow always seemed to remain himself, and never was anything beside a great playwriter and author.
"Death Of A Salesman" may well be the ultimate American play, and perhaps, even many centuries later, it will still be regarded as such, as the pure power, pathos and deep underlying messages it envokes still resonate whenever you pick it up and read it.
Though he may have passed away, he will never truly be gone, and his legacy will continue long into eternity.
It seems like so many iconic figures have passing away in the last year or so: Johnny Carson, Ozzie Davis, Arthur Miller, Marlon Brando, and many others. Perhaps it's a sign that the next generation will appear, and new icons will be made, not to replace those who have come before, but to build upon them and to make names for themselves.
Take care all.

I was writing this huge bit about Miller's influence in the evolution of modern theatre, but that seemed pretentious. Suffice to say, Arthur Miller will not soon be forgotten.
