2 player?

I noticed that quite a few of the Final Fantasy remakes had "2 player" on them on the back of the packaging. However, I've been unsuccessful in trying to get the 2 player to work and have failed to find any information on the mechanics of the system or if its merely a typo. So, does anyone know how this works out?

It's pretty simple. In battle you set which player controls which character. Yup, player 2 only gets to make a difference in battle. That's all there is to it.
