But don't try to get around the swear filter, or Leeza will edit your post with her snot green font. :p

Just use the standard HTML tag way to get around it in that instance. I don't think we should get rid of the swear filter for just one name that doesn't come up often.

Anything else, France?

Pfft, you're no fun. *pokes*

You could also use HTML entities to get around it...

Shlup
02-16-2005, 04:34 AM
I thought we were going to fix that.

I blame Unne! He's always hated the Japanese.

Raistlin

Hey now! Don't go blaming Unne...At least, not until the elections are over.

Shlup
02-16-2005, 05:03 AM
Unne is against the Japanese! Vote, uh... I forget which party I liked best.

There's only one word I ever wanted censored. I don't know who added that other word. So, you're all jerks. In conclusion, you all suck. PS I hate you all. Also I might ban some of you. Probably Raistlin. And so forth and so on.

There's a simple way around that you know.

Yosh'itaka Amano.

Just put a little ' in the middle of the word and it's good. Not so big a deal really. Of course, usually things that show up on this forum really aren't that big a deal.

DocFrance

I wasn't suggesting getting rid of the swear filter. Rather, I was suggesting that it should be fixed so that we can actually talk about Yoskullskullskullskullaka Amano normally.

Del Murder
02-16-2005, 06:12 AM
I had no idea that was possible.

Agent Proto
02-16-2005, 06:18 AM
It's possible, but you'll have to place the word you want to censor out alone in {}

Like... take dog.

if you put dog, it'll censor out dog:

dog = :skull::skull::skull:
doghouse = :skull::skull::skull:house

put {dog}, it'll only censor dog by itself.

dog = :skull::skull::skull:
doghouse = doghouse

of course, when you place the s-word in {} that leaves some words out in open that can be considered foul, such as <img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif>ty, <img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif>head, (though who'll use <img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif>head anyways?) dog<img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif>, etc....

Of course, it's not that bad a word as the f-word. :P

of course, I don't have a problem with it. It forces me and others to use creative substitutes.

If you're gonna split it, at least split it between syllables correctly, e.g. Yoshi'taka. Even then, it looks messy :p

In any case, I have no idea who added sh<i></i>it to the swear filter either, so in such a case, we blame Shlup :monster:

I was proving a point, the apostrophe was inserted utterly at random.

The censor will not prevent anyone who really wants to swear from swearing. It does, however, help catch the occasional slipup; or in edczxcvbnm's case, it catches quite a lot. :p

Huh? Why bother? Yosh<b></b>itaka Amano. See? No filter. :p

And considering the response to a certain LJ entry of mine, this might get some further discussion.

The simpliest way to get around the filter is just put "<</>/>" between the word.

Yosh<</>/>itaka --> Yosh</>itaka.

the filter thing also works for making smilies into text. example: :D becomes :<z>D when, say, [z] (with < and > in place of [ and ]) is added between the : and the D
