I have a bad feeling about this game, the Final Fantasy games have been getting worse, and from what I've seen from this game, Im nervous. If the game goes way too far from its roots then it wont be an FF game. And the release dates getting changing is annoying, I keep thinking, will this game be worth this huge wait?

That a video game may turn out to be bad isn't something worth worrying about.

Yes I think we'll all live through it. :D

It might not live up to the hype, but I know that it will be fun regardless, since Square knows what they are doing.

I think I may very well die.

If it sucks there's always the option of not playing it. What makes an FF game an FF game anyway? It's only a traditional FF game if you like it? FF games are always changing... I isnt the same as VI, VII isnt the same as X. Things will always change, especially to fit the audience.

Even if FF officially goes down the toilet, there's lots of other great RPGs to play out there.

I'm looking forward to XII. If it sucks, oh well.

That's weird, because I have a good feeling about this game.

Everyone's very very concerned about the 'feel', always talking about how newer games dont have the 'feel'. The 'feel' is very subjective, it really boils down to how much people like or dislike the game. FF Tactics is so very different from regular FF, but very few people complain. Many, however, complain that X didnt have the 'feel'. X was the first one since VII that had the full 'feel' for me, and it varies from person to person. The only thing that makes some of them different from other RPGs is the title, and I think some people just fall back on the 'feel' to justify disliking the game without being held as traitors to the series.

I don't know what to think about this game. I'm thinking about it, but I don't want to buy it. Best thing I can suggest you do is try and borrow it from Blockbuster or something. I sometimes do it.

I've experienced the elusive "feel" in 6, 7, 9 and 10. Oh, and there was this one time, in a dark alleyway, that I'd rather not discuss...

I don't like it.'I feel the game left its roots into something entirely non-ff and the main character looks like a horrendous..idiot? I'm scared. :(

i know im gonna like it. square has never given me crap. i love every FF and KH and Chrono game there is. I want em all! This game is gonna be good, even if its not the best one. Im still really into XI and ive always got that as long as i can fork out 12 bucks a month. So i've got backup if XII fails. plus VII AC, BC, CC, and DC are all comin out soon. I think im set.

I'm really looking forward to it. Final Fantasy is ALWAYS changing, and so far, I've liked pretty much all of the changes. Every game can't be exactly the same as the one before it, can it? That would be boring. I enjoy seeing how sqeenix is going to mix it up for us this time, next time, whenever. And, like TheAbominatriz said, what exactly makes a Final Fantasy game what it is? The appearance of moogles, chocobos, pretty guys, thieves and princesses? The wonderful story that sweeps you up and won't let go for 40, 50, 60 hours? I don't know.

:D

For me, it's the same every time.

1. Current FF is the best thing since sliced bread.

2. New FF announced, screenshots appear, looks awful.

3. Get the hints of the storyline and background, and it sounds horrible.

4. Hear things about the experimental new battle system, it sounds very dodgy.

5. Actually get to play the new FF and get completely blown away and wonder why I was worrying about it in the first place. End up hailing it as one of the best ever.

I think it'll work out not just fine, but brilliantly :)

goes way to far out of its roots? Wat are u talking about?
Moogles are abundant in this game, something lacking in FFX (series).

The whole environment looks like FFVI (without the crazy star wars ships).

I believe in SE, and I think this will be a very good game. People dont know the feel? Well companies tend to try out new stuff cause most people get bored with the same "3 characters line up, move forward, attack, move back" battles. This will be a change, and I think a much better change overall.

Plus this will most likely be the last FF made for the PS2, and i think SE will wanna go out memorable. ;)

Here's what I think.

Squenix are the experts. They are the ones who are making the games, and the ones who have the most to lose if the game flops. Now they want their game to be as good as they can make it right? Which would involve them fixing any problems that may arrise yes? Good, now if we are able to pick problems out of a game we know nothing about, surely, them being the creators of it 'n' all, would also be able to identify any problem that we could and many more. Obviously they would do everything in their power to fix this problem.

In other words leave the worrying to them.

Ouch!

I'm more excited about FFXII than any other FF title thus far. I think it has the potential to put all the other Final Fantasy titles to shame.

Besides, I don't think any of the Final Fantasy games are bad. If you compare them to other RPGs, each one of them can blow most competition away. When someone says a Final Fantasy is bad it's most likely that they're comparing to the other titles. Sure, there will always be some FFs that are better than other, but then again, each of the games all have a huge fan-base. I can't think of a Final Fantasy title that everyone that was a piece of dirt.

I expect FFXII will develope it's own fanbase easily.

Exactly, just like FFX and FFX-2 did. =)

I really just can't wait for this game, I usualy do get caught up in the hype, but thus far I haven't been dissapointed, so it doesn't bother me. Anything that involves a whole new adventure, defenatly has my interest.

I would'nt mind if it somewhat had the X-2 battle system mixed into it a little, but anything more than that...Let's just say X-2's story, music, and general look sucked.
I'd like to say one thing before i'm done, though-
BRING BACK THE DAMN VICTORY CHANT!

Eh, the graphics are completely different, the battle system is only similar to FFXI but probably a lot better, from what I've seen.

But hey, they Mandragora's in it, so at least they are bringing in a new kind of creature as a tradition?

X was a wonderful game to me. Just because it isnt everyone's favorite doesnt mean the series is declining. I think it's very egocentric to say it is because they made a game/multiple games you dont like.

im kinda unsure aobut this. i mean, it may be a great RPG, but im definately not into the new direction there heading in. I mean, action battle system, no victory chant (thats the worst), enemies roam around ala CT, it takes place in the same world as a previous FF, and it was made by the guy who made FFTA. All these factors makes me very unsure about the FF experience im going to get from it. it seems like there throwing away everything that made an FF game an FF game and decided to just go like all the other RPGs out.

i didnt say the world was going to end, i said that the game is getting diffrent in a way that seems not to my liking, and if it keeps getting diffrent then i think FF is headed in a bad direction. id be perfectly content with the first 10 if thats what it comes down to however.

well i have played every single last one of this series, and ill say that the series is getting better, not going down hill. X was the best game in this series, by far, with IX running close behind in 2nd. i will agree with some of you that X-2 was a little stupid, but SE is only getting better, and from what i have been hearing they are coming out with 3 new ff games this yr including XII. so i doubt this is the end and if so i know im up chocolate creek without a popcycle stick.

Definitely looking forward to XII. :)

I think it will be one of if not the best so far.
As far as graphics go its just as good as X with CG cutscenes and a seriosuly interesting and original looking style. I think it was inspired by Saudi Arabian styleings or something.
The music will have over 98 songs like 7,8,9,10 which was my favourites and the highlight of the series for me and they all had incredible music. Nobuo Uematsa is also doing the theme song and the guy whos doing the rest of the soundtrack is the same guy who did Breath Of Fire V and Star ocean 3 if Im not mistaken. The small pieces Ive heard so far have been very good.
The gameplay looks VERY enjoyable. The traditional battle system has been dropped unlike the rest of the series which should make it stand out and if the fightings anything like Star Ocean 3 it will ROXORS my world. The camera can be rotated 360 degrees which suggests to me there will be lots of places to explore. Which reminds me, The world map has been restored and there huge landscapes to explore. F-A----R bigger than other games in the series.
Its on two discs which is pretty rare for a PS2 game so it'll probably last a while.
The storyline will probably be familiar if you've played Tactics or tactics advance. Its taken all the races from Tactics advance and more races have been promised if Im not mistaken. The storyline is Final Fantasy so it cant be that bad.
Yeah I've got a bad feeling about this game :(

FFXI is pretty much completely different from any FF I've ever played and I love it, I'm looking forward to FFXII but I think I'm going to miss talking to people XD.

I'm looking forward to the different style of playing and battle system. You know what, no victory chant after EVERY SINGLE BATTLE is refreshing and when I finally hear it with my level up in FFXI, I get excited :D I won;t really miss it if it's not in FFXII, I'll just hook up an old FF to hear it if I'm THAT desperate. If you get all *Boo! It's only has FF title, it's not a freaking FF game boo! Where's cloud? WTF! *Garbage burn burn* Then maybe you need to pick up a book or something and get some fresh ideas. Final Fantasy is a Series, a line of Various games that have some similarities that makes it part of a series. It's not a sequel to another game. Seriously. If this is your biggest concern in life, you need to get out more.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and there is a marvel called RENTING if you don;t want to blow 80 bucks on a game you already decided is going to suck, although no one has tried it. Good luck!

I just hope its not as linear in terms of where you had to go like it was in FFX. I wish they'd bring the overhead world map back like they did in FFIX and below but I hear its going to be like FFXI in terms of the world.

The real tragedy would be if all FF's were cookie-cutter, b/c then the series would have never made it past 3. I think most ppl complain about the current FF, b/c in their mind they look like gurus for thinking the old ff's were superior. But really....they just look like fools.
I will enjoy FFXII if for no other reason than to enjoy the beauty of it. Screw the dissentors.

i don't view X-2 as a true FF. it was good, but short and estrogen powered (not that that's a bad thing). the director of XII says he's getting ideas from X-2.... that is scaring me.

I was skeptical at first, but after looking at all available information and media about this game, I am fairly optimistic and excited.

I have a video clip of some E3 footage, and I've been watching it repeatedly for a few days. There's something about it that I like more and more each time.

I think I see what they're aiming for with this game. Immersion. They're using an approach influenced by MMORPGs to try to create a living, immersive world. So it's more than just a story, it's a world that contains stories within it. This is a very ambitious game.

If they can pull it off, it will be an incredible game. It will have the immersiveness and addictive gameplay of a good MMORPG, with the storyline and interactivity of a console Final Fantasy game.

I'm starting to have a very good feeling about it. I just hope that they come through with enough depth to make it work.

i just took a good look at said video, and i must say, i feel much better now. it has a bit of an FFTA twist to it, take a pinch of the busy world of FFIX, a dash of X, mix it all together in a bowl of maturity and you get XII. i'm actually starting to look forward to its reliese.

Well when I first heard about it it sounded good. The problem being that that was like 2 years ago. It was probably a great game for 2004 and maybe even 2005, but right now from what I hear, it's going to be somewhere in the range of December Japan and July USA, and most likely on the ps3. The thing is that they still won't admit it, and I can't wait until they announce a FFXII-2:VAAN JOINS N'SYNC.

I can't say much about the gameplay as no one has played it and they probably won't for a good long time.
