Well, I was watching Sportscenter last night when I saw the news across the little ticker. From what I know right now, they say it looks like suicide. Whatever it is, though, we've lost a pretty prominent voice of alternative journalism.
He's best known for "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and the invention of first-person journalism, but I've really only read his work on ESPN.com (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/archive?columnist=hunter_s._thompson&root=page2). I'll miss 'im, for sure.
