Yes, it's one of those threads that 67% of you will love, 30% of you will hate and 3% will simply not care about. It's the age-old battle between fresh, tasty and sometimes healthy white meat and colon festering, wind producing red meat.

Which do you prefer, and why?

Er, can you give me a definition of each and what the difference is, though?

You made me hungry T_T;

I find red meat too chewy, and on steak I often nearly choke.

I'm more a pasta and soups kinda guy, but I love me some white meat every now and then.

Chicken, whether it be BBQ'ed or seasoned in lemon pepper, gives my taste buds itty bitty little taste bud orgasms. And turkey subs on deli quality french bread does it for me every time.

I'm not a big dark meat fan. I don't even really like hamburgers.

I prefer seafood more.

But it depends. I don't like fried chicken, but I do like chicken strips in salads. Hamburgers are okay, but since I like Mexican and Italian food, I'll go with red meat(since it's cheaper).

Well I guess we know which one you prefer.

I like red meat. It is all too often that white meat needs delicate preparation to be properly moist and yummy, while red meat doesn't need such delicateness. So I rarely eat while meat that tastes good, but red meat never lets me down.

White meat. Red meat generally has too much fatty tissue and unedible crispy parts.

White meat. Red meat makes me gag; I don't like eating stuff that's half dead, and juicy, squishy...yuck. It makes me lose my appetite.

Legs and thighs!? Chicken leg = white meat or dark meat? You people make NO SENSE I'm gonna go jump off a bridge now to clear this confusion *_*

Doomgaze
02-25-2005, 06:56 AM
Dark meat. Legs and thighs of chicken and turkey are dark meat, wings and breasts are white meat. White meat can also refer to pork or... anything else with white meat. I'm sorry this is going over your head, Jojo :)

Shu'up Adam xD *punches you*

Omg I've been eating dark meat... that sounds so... different. So is dark meat bad for you? Like, worse than white meat? ;) Why are legs dark and wings white? >:O

Also, Adam only knows his meat because he doesn't have any, obviously :p

Doomgaze

I've got plenty of meat. If I didn't eat my meat, I couldn't have any pudding.

Dark meat is fattier, I believe. And it's dark because IT'S DARK. Get a chicken and investigate. If you're asking WHY the legs are dark, I don't know. Might have something to do with them being less important muscles for a bird, but that wouldn't really hold true for a chicken.

Matthew

I suppose it's White/Red meat in England and White/Dark meat in America, then...

Just to reply to my own thread: I prefer Red/Dark meat. I know it's not as healthy as white meat, but I'd rather have a hamburger or steak than disgusting chicken. I really cannot stand chicken.

What are you on? I'm so craving chicken mcNuggets right now.... haven't had them for months cos' I try to make it a habit not to go to McD's ^_^;; Chicken is the best thing ever! Fish is the second best thing.

I've never had a steak before o_0

Steak is good. One 4th of July we had these steaks right of the grill outside, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. And eveything was HUGE. Man... now I'm hungry.

NO.
Dark meat - legs and thigh of fowl
White meat - Breasts and wings of fowl. Also used to describe pork and some other things. Fish, maybe.
Red meat - Beef, lamb, game, etc.

Sorry about that. This thread has also made me hungry, and it's only 7:28 a.m. according to my clock. By all accounts, I really shouldn't be craving gammon steaks and cheeseburgers at this time of day.

On a side note, I've just noticed that my new threads are always about food. I'll have to do something about that.

Gah.....steak *drools* Ahhh, SO red meat, allthough Its hard to choose as I'm a complete carnivore and HATE vegtables. I so have an imbalance of iron from all the red meat I eat. Mmmmmm. Steak....

I've even eaten horse steak before. Coming back from holiday we drove through germany and damn if it wasnt the one of the best steaks I've ever had, and I've had ALOT. :D
