Question, are you a fast or a slow typer? Do you type at the speed of light or do you peck at the keys?

I'm a farely fast typer with little mistakes when I'm tired, but when I'm awake, I type slow.

Neither. Or rather... somewhere in betweene. I'm a mid-speed writer.

I'm a very fast typer. I strive to type correctly and as quickly as possible. As much time as I spend at a computer, I've developed in quite the skill with a keyboard. In my keyboarding class some months ago, I had an average words per minute around 75 with 5 minute writings. When I'm typing from my head (now for instance), rather than copying from paper, it's much faster.

I type at the speed of light.

I've owned a computer since the age of 3, so I got extra practice.

Hahaha at the above poster comment.

ANYWAYS! I'm pretty fast, unless I'm cold or tired, then I make alot of typos.

I type fairly fast I suppose, but I'm prone to making some mistakes whilst doing so. So I'm not that good at it

i am a decently somewhat fast typer, until i get tired then i make a lot of mistakes then i correct them, that makes a bit slower, but moderatly sppedy typing.

When I know what I want to write, I'm a fast typer - but I'm not that smooth, and I don't use the touch-typing position. I don't type with my index finger either tho :p

Fast. I don't look at the keys and everyone at college or work always seems to make comments that I type so speedily, but I'm just used to it. xD I blame it on my old overuse of internet chatrooms.

I type fast, with my fingers... almost on the right keys. I don't use my pinky fingers though, and rarely my ring fingers.

My dad types with just his index fingers... at like the speed of light. Its weird.

I can type decently fast, but since I'm usually thinking while I'm typing, I generally don't need to turn on the turbo boosters. I put both my hands on the keyboard and type with my ring, middle, and index fingers, using my thumb for the space bar and my pinky for apostrophes. I can type surprisingly fast and accurate while I'm not looking at the keyboard.

'Bout it.

I look down at the keyboard when I start typing, but once I start I don't need to look down again. I think I type at a decent speed, I type a lot faster than a lot of people I work with. But I make a few mistakes here and there, so I normally gotta go back and check what I typed.

Once I got to ~140 wpm when I was taking keyboarding. It was just one sentence and I'd probably typed it about five times, but still.

I scare people when I decide to go whole hog when I type. But I haven't been in a keyboarding class for a while, so speed isn't really an issue. And I've gotten sloppy.

Before seventh grade I would type with two fingers. and still beat people at trivia games. on a modem. on a different server. but then I learned to type properly. Or more properly, rather.

Moderately fast. I never learned to type at a class so I look at my hands periodically. I can hit probably about 80 WPM when I'm typing computer code or text from my brain. If I'm transcribing, I get around 50 WPM.

I would say I'm a fairly speedy typist, with very few errors. I'm hailed as "The God of Literature" by a classmate...although that's complete BS, as he's far and away the smartest guy in our grade. :D

I was a much faster typer when I was still in school. As it is now, I suppose I type around 40 to 50 wpm.

Typing faster from your head?

I find that harder because I keep having to revise what I say to get the right connotation for every word.

It's a lot easier to type something up, because the text is right there, and you just have to plug it into your fingers.

although if it's a rough draft and you're doing on the fly editing, it's harder-_-

I type faster than all of my friends do, but also do the following more than any of my friends:

- forum
- type papers
- spend hours writing HTML code
- write C++/PHP code (not so much, currently)

My grandma has type testing software on her computer, and whenever I go over there for family dinners or what have you, I usually sit there and mess around with that. I typically get 95-105 wpm average on tests.

In a real world situation, though, I probably average around 75 wpm or so.

I type at a decently fast speed. It's just thinking of what to type, where my mind wanders off...

Apparently some people at #eoff think that I'm the fastest typer of anybody, specifically David. I was amazed when he was all like, "You don't want me to play because you know I'm the only one that can keep up with your fast typing." I thought the way I typed was fairly average amongst nerds.

I usually type about 150 WPM when I'm just typing from the top of my head, with occasional typos. When there is something there for me to type in front of me, I can generally get up to 170-180 range. I have the Wedgwood Middle School 3-minute timed typing record with 125 WPM that I set three years ago. It's never been broken. YAY!

I've gotten pretty damn fast, if I do say so myself. Since I've become obsessed with the internet, and this place, I've gotten a lot better. =D So thanks.

I'm a pretty fast typer, I guess, but I still make too many mistakes. I also don't quite type correctly, so I end up using my strong fingers a lot more.

Around Christmas, I tried out the Dvorak keyboard layout, which is designed to allow faster and easier typing, but my family kept using the old keyboard, and I got lazy and stopped putting it back. Ah well.

IM definitely did help my typing speed, though, as it rather demands it if the other person is a decent typer :p.

Yay for all relative statements :D! Someone needs to find some online test we all can take.
I think I type rather slow myself, even though I've had a computer since I was 7. I never wrote a lot on our PC, so I never had much practice. When chatting casually, I guess I type about 8-10 letters per second.
