View Full Version : How Come It Happened?

OK, if you already know this one, please don't ruin it for other people or anything. That would suck. If you don't know it but think you know the answer, then PM me. You get one guess. Well, you can have one guess per 30 posts in this thread. :p

Now. The rules are simple - you can ask me only yes/no questions. You have to figure out why a man went into a restaurant and, after eating some seagull, he went outside and shot himself. Bring on the questions. :)

Is this to do with grammar at all? Like there's that panda example.
A panda eats shoots and leaves.
A panda eats, shoots and leaves.

I'm only asking that 'cause they sound very similar :D

Was the seagull prepared in some way? (Eg cooked, fried, stamped on)

Was he an alcoholic?
No.

He shot himself?
Yes.

Was it a whole seagull?
No.

Was the seagull prepared in some way?
Yes.

I should also probably note that just because I say yes or no to a question doesn't mean it's relevant. An example being "Was he wearing a black T-shirt" or something like that. Sometimes it's so irrelevant that I can answer yes or no without it making a difference to the story. Sometimes people go off on a tangent without realising it. I probably won't let you know if it happens, so just keep that in mind. :) I have another one of these stories to be done once this thread is over, too.

Will you tell me the answer?
No, not yet at least, but since I made this riddle far, far more vague than it's meant to be, I figure I may as well give the full question.

After being stuck on a deser island for years with two other people, one of whom died, a man returns to civilization. After returning, he goes to a restaurant famous for serving all kinds of dishes. He orders seagull. When the seagull arrives, he takes a bite, goes out of the restaurant and commits suicide. Why?

Did he meet his wife in the resturant?
No.

Did he like the taste of the seagull?
No.

Loony BoB
03-07-2005, 10:07 PM
The man, his friend and his wife were stranded on a desert island for years. The man was blinded in the shipwreck. At some point, the wife died. The wife was then cooked and fed to the man by his friend, who told him it was seagull. Suspicious, the man tried seagull after returning home (post-rescue, obviously). He realised what happened, and shot himself.

Not the greatest of love stories but hey, you get what you pay for. I'll start the next one in a new thread to save on confusion.
