My phone's better than yours! Competition over!

Haha, so anyway, I just bought a new phone, a Samsung x426 (http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=SGH-X426&redirect=yes&prod_path=Phones+and+Fax+Machines%2fWireless+Phones) (as listed here (http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=SGH-X426&redirect=yes&prod_path=Phones+and+Fax+Machines%2fWireless+Phones), though mine's thru Rogers, not AT&T). This thing is amazing, I wanted a phone that could do decent sound for ringtones and such and still do fairly decent colour...not bad for 300$, I think. Yamaha brand speakers = win.

What do you guys think of this one? And what kinds of phones do you guys have (or want)?

I've got a generic Motorola phone that does calls and text messages and has a blue backlit screen. It's nothing fancy, but it does the job just fine.

I've always thought Nokia to be the superior phone. They're so easy to use. All I really need a phone for is *drumroll* phoning! Wow, I bet you didn't see that coming.

It's nice-looking, and it takes pictures. 'Tis adequate.

Currently, I have:

They don't look too different, but the one I want has camera, games, REA L sound ringtones, and wallpapers. :)

I have a Samsung something or other. I don't really use my phone all that much (call me sometime; 817-991-1340), so it does what I want. I only have two games, and both of them suck and aren't Snake. I like my ringtone ("Should've Been a Cowboy" by Toby Keith).

no cell phone

i also live on a mountain
basically we have bad reception all the way up here. you'd think not because we're closer to all the satellites, but it's so cold that radio waves have trouble getting around in this air.

If yer not a bumpkin or something, cellphones are the way to go. For me, it's 40$ a month for a phone line, and any amount per month (+10$ service..wtf?). I don't use the cellphone for extended periods of time (I try to keep calls < 1 minute) for a cellphone (I drop 10-20$), so it works in my favour.

1. It's in Canadian funds,
2. I own my phone outright, no plans. I pay for my time as I use it.

It's a sweet deal.

I have a Sony Ericsson T610. Nokia phones annoy me, despite the awesome fact that they're made in Finland, which can't be bad. Sony Ericsson phones are much easier to use.

I find it amusing that AmeriCanada is still so far behind the times when it comes to mobile phone technology, but I suppose with all that land mass to cover, it would be difficult. But then again, I suppose Japan would find it amusing that the UK is still so far behind their technology, too, so there you go.

My phone is actually a lower model phone, it just happened to suit my purpose. Our technologies are pretty on-par with what the UK has to offer, and service providers are keeping up quite well.

And I take offence to the term "AmeriCanada"...makes us sound like a corporation. Aside from which, Canadians are not Americans. We're just here for the cool stuff and free t-shirts.

I've been to America and spoken to the people at Verizon and another network thingy and they both told me that they don't have the technology the UK has to support all the features of my phone. I was annoyed! But yeah. That was around two years ago, maybe you're catching up now. The way I see it, smaller countries adapt a lot faster to technological change. NZ has stuff the UK and US doesn't because it didn't cost billions to ensure that tens of millions of people could handle the change, for example. Not always the case, but generally with the English speaking nations it's fairly accurate.

AmeriCanda is a term I use because it saves face when confusing the two accents and it also saves me having to type 'America and Canada' all the time. :D There's little chance of me stopping the use of that term. I think it should be an official word. Just like all those sports that AmeriCanada plays... you call them 'National' but they're multi-national! Grrr. You only call it 'National' because you can't be bothered typing out 'American and Canadian'... just think - you could say 'AmeriCanadian!' It's ingenious. Okay, I'll shut up now.

Shiroi Kumo

Not the case now, I'm sure...phones purchased outside of N. America will work (and have worked) fine with N. American SIM cards. And it's been my experience that just because a network claims to not support it doesn't mean it won't work outright. Yes, some features need to be enabled at the main server, but others just work.

I'd think that AmeriCanada would only serve to anger the person you label as such, since they may not wish to be affiliated with the other country. Though that may not be the case with some Americans...I hear they sell kits down there now to travellers to teach them how to be Canadian xD

Just stick with North Americans...safer. :)
