Here we are at the end of the road. results have been announced in the #eoff chatroom (fittingly enough) but here are the official tallies of votes. We had 109 members vote and here's how it turned out, one forum at a time. At the end I'll give you the overall winner and forum leader (based on number of winning candidates):

Gen Chat

So, those are our results. We had a lot of close races, with quite a few coming down to a single vote. As The Captain pointed out, Loony BoB recieved the most votes with 67. Now, to determine our overall party winner. This prize goes to the party that won the most forum positions:

Total Forums Won
#eoff Party (Loony BoB, leader) 8 forums
BAotW Party (Psychotic, leader) 7 forums
Ace Party (Agent Proto, leader) 7 forums
Fluffy Pink Party (boris no no, leader) 4 forums
Unne Avatar Party (Genius Lynx, leader) 3 forums
Elitist Party (Del Murder, leader) 1 forum
Fabio Party (Mikztsu, leader) 0 forums
Anti-EoFF Party (edczxcvbnm, leader) 0 forums

so...while in one sense we are all winners, in another more accurate sense...

#eoff Party are the winners!

Congratulations to everyone involved in these Elections. We had record participation and lots of fun. Please discuss here, but no insulting "how did XXX win that one?!?!?" posts.

EoFF did not win, #eoff did. We, the members of the chatroom, associate ourselves as more of a very loose tie to the forums and the site, or at least I do. To make a long stupid boring speech much shorter, the chat room won.

The winners.

fire_of_avalon (#eoff, General Chat) - Retains position in 'government' after winning "General Chat/Eyes on Each Other/World Events" last year.
Behold The Void (Unne Avatar, Eyes on Each Other)
DMKA (BAoTW, Eyes on the World / World Events)
Kirobaito (#eoff, The Lounge) - Retains position in 'government' after winning "Lounge/General Gaming/Arts and Writing" last year.
Endless (#eoff, General Gaming)
Miriel (Fluffy Pink Party, Art & Writing)
Loony BoB (#eoff, Site Staff) - Retains position in 'government' after winning "Forum Leader" last year.
o_O (Ace, Help Forum)
Del Murder (Elitist, Feedback Forum)

Dr Unne (Unne Avatar, FFI-IV)
Shivablizzard8 (Ace, FFV)

Sepho (Ace, FFVII)
Fuzakeru (BAoTW, FFVII:DoC)
Destai (Ace, FFVII:AC)
Silmaril (Ace, FFVIII)
boris no no (Fluffy Pink Party, FFIX)
Czech. Republic (BAoTW, FFX)
Xander (BAoTW, FFX-2) - Retains position in 'government' after winning "Site Staff/Help/Feedback" last year.
Citizen Bleys (Unne Avatar, FFXI)
Sephiroth1999AD (Ace, FFXII)
Misfit (BAoTW, FFT)
Heath (#eoff, FFTA)
Chris (#eoff, FF:CC)
Flamethrower (Ace, General FF)
Chibi Youkai (#eoff, VG Music / TSW)
MecaKane (#eoff, Chrono Cross / Chrono Trigger)
Ansem (BAoTW, Kingdom Hearts)
Quina (Fluffy Pink Party, General Square Enix)

Four leaders made it into the 'government' - Loony BoB, Psychotic, boris no no and Del Murder.

With 8/30 forums, #eoff may have most forums but they don't hold majority. They would need seven non-#eoff forum leaders to get a definite majority vote. However, with other #eoffers DMKA, o_O, Psychotic, Strider, Sepho and Sephiroth1999AD they can at least do whatever it takes to encourage chat activity. Knowing most other forum representatives also strongly support Newbie Rights, #eoff is in a strong position to reach their goals. Sadly, not one of the former Goomba Party runners made it to the final 30, however I will ensure that their voice is heard - by me! And then they'll achieve their goal, too. Once I finish this post or something.

Two Administrators (Dr Unne and myself) and two cid's Knights (Xander and Del Murder) won their respective forums, along with two Site Staffers (Strider and Heath). Not to be left out, former Forums Staff also made the list in the form of Citizen Bleys (former Admin) and Endless (former Cid's Knight). People of all sorts of ranks, ages, forum-ages, countries and backgrounds managed to get into the final 30 representatives and this is a great reflection of where EoFF stands today.

I'm particularly proud of the #eoff party as we never were lower than 4th (and that was a tight one, too, not to mention the runner had also assisted in another forum, thus taking on a double-workload). Everyone did me really, really proud. Thanks to all the newbies and #eoffers - and anyone else, too - who voted for me and for the #eoff party. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is first time in EoFF Election history that the same party (despite going under a different name) has won twice in a row. Not only did we win most forums, but those forums included a broad range - General Chat, The Lounge, General Gaming, Site Staff, FFTA, FF:CC, Video Game Music / TSW and CC/CT. All well deserved.

Congratulations also to the other winners and to anyone who got a vote, including no candidate, who beat my tally by one vote (68 votes over my 67) if I count correctly... :p

Parties by votes
BAoTW - 902 votes
#eoff - 887 votes (+1 write-in vote for RSL in General SE).
Ace - 601 votes
Fluffy Pink - 369 votes
Unne Avatar - 267 votes
Elitist - 103 votes
Anti-EoFF - 90 votes
Fabio - 49 votes

Wow! Congratulations, #eoff, and my congratulations to everyone else too. You've all done a fine job, no matter which party you were from. ^^ Also, it was very kind of Election Booth to organize this event and count all the votes. Lots of thanks to you. :) We shared the 2nd rank with BAotW, which isn't bad at all. So, seven forums are belong to us! (J/K) I can hardly believe I got 42 votes, and most votes in FFXII forums. My poetic skills are pretty much non-existent. :p Thanks to everyone who voted for me. *group huggles* Thanks also to everyone voting for Ace, to those who participated in the elections, those who were the leaders of the parties, and everyone who were representing a forum with fun and innovative ideas (it was really nice reading different parties' answers in every thread). ^^ It's been awesome, guys and girls.

I'm extremely confident that we'd have won by a decent margin on non-bias votes (in other words, votes from members that voted for more than just their own party). :p In fact, I'd expect Ace to be second if that happened... of course, only EB can know who voted what.

I dunno, Mik's FFXI answer was pretty good.

And if anyone thinks I bugged people into voting on the last day, I didn't in the end, so ner. :p And as for this...

well seeing as we had 14 and you had 5 2 days ago, I can only imagine that for that gap to be closed in two days your party voted for themselves as well.
Sounds like exactly what happened with W-Boats, actually! Still not enough though! We were just too good where it mattered, so good that we most certainly got votes from all sorts of people from all areas, something BAoTW seem to have difficulty doing. :aimsun:

I wouldn't have quoted the total vote counts if I wasn't confident that it was so close we could have won anyway if I'd relied on a mass-party-vote like W-Boats clearly do. :smash:

You can dream all you like - #eoff party won in style, with five of the six 50+ vote-counts. :) Good job to Fuza of the W-Boats for getting third in that area, though.

1. Loony BoB - 67 votes
2. MecaKane - 58 votes
3. Fuzakeru - 52 votes
4. Chibi Youkai - 51 votes
5= Endless - 50 votes
5= Heath - 50 votes

Hell yeah I got as many people to vote for us straight-ticket as I could, and I'm not going to deny that, even if you want to deny that you and KB did. And to be perfectly honest I really don't think you got many votes from outside your own party like you think you did. I know we got more newbies supporting us than you, whereas you mainly got chat oldbies. But well done on that, I applaud your efforts in getting people to vote straight-ticket, it's a tough skill, believe you me. So congratulations, even if you are going to pretend. :)

To be honest, I can see NOTHING wrong in straight-ticket voting anyway (Except for lying about it...) What's the point in having parties and their policies if you're not going to vote for them?

No more than 15 people could have possibly voted 'straight ticket' as you call it for #eoff - while no more than 20 could have voted 'straight ticket' for W-Boats. The difference of 15 votes is right there - well, possibly closer to 150 votes. :p

And I didn't tell people to vote once. I put a link in the chatroom topic, though, but that benefitted the people who were part of Ace and W-Boats and FPP and Unne Avatar too. It didn't even say "Vote #eoff" or anything. :p I didn't PM anyone, I didn't remind anyone, nothing. :) We just have genuine appeal. :D OH OH OH STATS TIEM! *orgasm* Okay, we had a standard deviation of 13.3 compared to your 7.6, showing we had more variation in the amount of people who voted for our party, showing that we had less 'straight ticket' votes than W-Boats. :D Ace did too - 11.3. Even FPP (11.7) and Unne Avatar (10.4) have you done... =o Wow. But then again, FPP and Unne Avatar's standard deviation is pretty extreme as they didn't have runners in every category.

Sorry, I'm playing around with my spreadsheet of votes. It's so fantastic! *falls over*

Like I said, we sure did vote straight-ticket a lot. I said that. I'm not denying that. What I'm saying is that you're implying that our second place and first place in the votes is totally worthless because of it. It's not. It's valid. People can vote how they want, and they wanted to vote like that. (Besides, I'm pretty sure it's how your party got to first place anyway. Maybe I'm wrong! EB will probably correct me. :p)

I don't mind losing, and I don't mind losing if anyone DOES go all straight-ticket either as I consider that perfectly valid. What's not valid about it, BoB? Why do you hate the straight-ticket so much? It's glorious. Admit that you are with us on our straight-ticket glorious realm!

I'm not sure where you pulled your stats from so I'll pretend they aren't real. And as for the #eoff topic, it mentions the #eoff party specifically in it. But I don't mind, we had our own devious ploys. ;)

So well done - especially if it wasn't straight ticketing - but please don't knock my party's result like it isn't valid due to straight-ticketing. (PS: Remind me again how you voted ;))

I spent around two hours voting, as well, and I gave reasons for each votes. For the record, I think I voted Ace members for no more than half of the forums, and I voted for at least three W-Boats (Psy included).

Straight-ticket is an entirely valid method of voting (assuming that having parties in the first place is fair and valid), I agree, but it's boring.

Looking through the winners, it went pretty close to how I voted.

I want to know 1 thing. How many people voted based off of what was said for each canadate's "thing". Like for the chrono forum we had to find a funny chrono website. How many people based their vote off of that for each forum.

Yeah...Anti-EoFF needs to start earlier next year instead of damn near last minute.

Very interesting. Being a party leader I obviously voted for everyone in my party just like BoB.

I was curious to see how much of a popularity/party line/legit issues votes there are and what the % break down is. That would be interesting to know and I wouldn't mind conducting a survey via PM to everyone who voted and post the results...keeping who said what confidencial of course. I think it would be pretty interesting to see the percentages.

I want to thank Proto, The Man, Archie, Linus, Snizz, and eest (x4) for helping me get the answers from some of the harder to reach members of my party. And a special thanks to Spuuky for participating without even knowing it.

The biggest thanks of all go to EB (eest), since he made these elections what they are, and they were the funnest yet. Without him this event would have sucked.

Of course it's not bad for party leaders because it gets them in, but what kind of leaders do you end up with when you know that they weren't voted in because they were the best in their field? I'd say that this is one of the reasons the governments are in such a mess in the first place.

However, by my votes #eoff is still the winner so I guess all is well. Congratulations. :)

I'm starting to wonder if I got any votes outside the #eoff party now.

As for the way I voted, well it sure was far from straight ticket. I voted for the responces I liked, and for some others based on name alone. IE: Bleys and Unne

PearlRose
03-11-2005, 05:01 AM
When I cast my votes, I looked at the responses for each candidate for each forum, and voted based on what I thought was the "best" anwser.

In cases where there was more than one "best" anwser in my opinion, or if I felt I didn't know enough about that forum to choose a good anwser, then I would vote party lines.

And toward the end, when I was getting tired, I scrutinized the candidate's anwsers less and was more biased toward party lines/users I recognized and/or liked.

Can't remember my final tally, but I think I voted for every party at least once. ^^

Given that some people in our party got 50+ votes and one person got 15 votes, I'd say it was definitely the non-straight-ticket voters that decided who won. How else would Del Murder have won Feedback?

As for larger parties having an advantage because of straight-ticket voters, that's only logical given that some people should take into account the policies a party stands for and obviously a lot of members of a party will vote only for their party because of the policies. =] If governments were voted on witty responses, you could end up with Satan in your leader's seat. :p

It's just like normal governments - just because a party has their leader in the government doesn't mean their party leader is anything more than a party leader. So there are four party leaders included in the government but the winner is that stupid idiot who managed to get his party to win more forums than the rest of 'em.

xD I had the same problem when I won last year. I thought I had to start doing important stuff or something, but no. We just get to mock the losers and do nothing :D.

I would like to thank the Elections for bringing forth some newbies into getting themselves known. Without the elections, members such as SilverWind, or crashbunchofnumbers would never get recognized by the general public of EoFF.

Oh, yeah, to stay on subject, I really do think it was a close election. Again, great job everybody.

I was very pleased with this whole election. So many close votes and so many members really voted for whom they thought best. Many also felt real solidarity with their parties and voted straight ticket which says something for the leaders' abilities to form strong parties. It also worked out well that #eoff won since I posted the results first in the chatroom. Actually, I went into the chatroom right before voting closed and was able to get a few more votes that helped determine the outcome.

I have breaking news out of the Elitist camp:

Spuuky28: Inform the people that I regretfully withdraw from consideration due to failing health
Genius454: I certainly will
Genius454: This is a sad day
Spuuky28: I hope to some day return after my long struggle with my undisclosed illness, but until then everyone should be prepared to move on

This, of course, would only come into play if Xander, Dragon Ash, Resha, and dark_angel all cannot perform their duties, but still it deserves note.

Get well soon, Spuuky.

EB, you did a terrific job. A huge amount of people got involved in this and you had more electoral candidates than AG has voters. A lot of people were made a lot happier because of what you've done for the elections and I hope you get a boost in the ol' ego for that. You did this all superbly.

If this government had been elected by a system of proportional representation BAoTW would have taken the victory, but alas it was not to be. Congratulations to the smelly people of the #eoff party, and everyone else who stole our votes. :)

At least it was all a lot of fun, anyway. Some great candidates took part, there were a number of lively discussions, and of course the whole thing was run superbly by the one and only Election Booth. Many thanks to all of you.

And thanks especially to all of my friends in the BAoTW party. We had a good run, and while we may not have secured the most forums (probably because of those damned immigrants) we won an impressive moral victory. Plus, we only need to assassinate a single #eoff MP to give ourselves joint supremacy. Sharpen up your stabbin' forks, folks! :D

I want to thank everyone involved in the Elections for making this the best EoFF Elections ever. We had record participation and some great fun. New and less-known members were able to take the stage while some of the most popular members also contributed positively. We managed to exceed the quality of last year's elections, which was no easy task. I don't know if I'll run the 2006 elections, but if I do then I have quite a challenge ahead.

Two requests: remember the fun you had during these election when the time comes to discuss the best events of the year. also, vote eestlinc in the screen name tournament! :D

Yay. Of course, I was already convinced that I would win as of a week ago. :)

I only know of a few people who voted straight #eoff, and I'm not one of them.

eestlinc
03-13-2005, 05:46 AM
I could tell you how many people voted straight ticket from each party, but no. I will say BAotW had the most, but #eoff had a good number as well.

Doomgaze
03-13-2005, 06:04 AM
Is that by sheer number, or percent?

eestlinc
03-13-2005, 06:06 AM
BAotW had about 20 straight ticket ballots. #eoff had maybe 12. Ace had 6 or 7 I think.

03-13-2005, 06:08 AM

An utter shambles. First off, the mere fact that I didn't win Feedback and Doomy didn't win Xenogears, despite that we are the most important parts of those forums, portrays the utter lack of sense by the voters. *smacks the lot of you*

I am convinced an oligarchy is the best way to run a society. Good job, #eoff. Because if you didn't win, then democracy would happen. And that just can't happen.

Parties by votes
BAoTW - 902 votes
#eoff - 887 votes (+1 write-in vote for RSL in General SE).
Ace - 601 votes
Fluffy Pink - 369 votes
Unne Avatar - 267 votes
Elitist - 103 votes
Anti-EoFF - 90 votes
Fabio - 49 votes

Just like America.

Thus ends my obligatory post. Like ripping off a bandaid.

So, those are our results. We had a lot of close races, with quite a few coming down to a single vote. As The Captain pointed out, Loony BoB recieved the most votes with 67. Now, to determine our overall party winner. This prize goes to the party that won the most forum positions:

Total Forums Won
#eoff Party (Loony BoB, leader) 8 forums
BAotW Party (Psychotic, leader) 7 forums
Ace Party (Agent Proto, leader) 7 forums

Ansem: Well... This is the closest any party I've been in has ever been to winning. Yay BooB. On a happier note, I am very happy with myself for actually winning a forum! KISS ME, I'm (12.5%) IRISH!

EDIT: eestlinc: I hope every forum winner posts a thread in their forum announcing their supremacy. I guess Psy can't do that, though.

I will!
