From what I've heard, and that may be wrong, Onion Kid is a japanese term for poor kid. Maybe it was a mistranslation, or maybe the translators thought we wouldn't like the term "poor kid"... Anyway...

Because Onion Kids and onions both contain 'allinases' and 'amino acid sulfoxides'. So when they're cut in half they create a mild volatile gas which irritates your tear ducts.

Yes, apparently "onion" is a Japanese colloquialism for not having any money, being poor, impoverished, etc.

I guess it's because they're adopted. They don't seem that poor, but their adoptive father whutzit isn't that responsible to let them fall in a cave.

I wonder if the translation team will call them "poor kids"...I seriously doubt they'll use "kid" at all. The correct translation is Onion Swordsman, but FFX used "Onion Knight," so they'll probably go with that.

It involves a behind the scenes Onion smuggling ring. You see, they're part of the mafia. In FFIII Land onions are illegal but many just can't get enough of that... uh, sweet and stingy taste, so the Onion Masters started smuggling them to the land. Soon suspicion fell on them by the FFIII FDA Association so they became covert. What better way to sneak onions into town than using kids? That's why they fell in the cave. They were smuggling onions at the time. They American translation team felt that the impressionable youth of America shouldn't learn about this "negetive influences" and left it all out.

Actually, wouldn't it be the ROM translation team? So, they DO care!
