Seifer's relationship with Rinoa?

In disc 2, when you fight Seifer in Galbadia garden, and u hav Rinoa in the party, he says, "u too? just last summer we....." and then Rinoa interrupts him. There are also several hints that suggest Seifer and Rinoa were a couple before Squall met her. What do u guys think?

It's a pretty well established fact that Seifer and Rinoa were romantically involved before Squall stumbled into the picture. It's not gone into with any great detail or anything, but things the characters say here and there hint at it.

At any rate, its pretty much established that Rinoa and Seifer dated the previous year. On the first disc at Galbadia Garden, she says as much:

Rinoa
"I...really liked him. He was always full of confidence, smart...Just by talking to him, I felt like I could take on the world."

Selphie
"Your boyfriend?"

Rinoa
"I...I think I was in love."

Selphie
"Do you still like him?"

Rinoa
"If I didn't, I wouldn't be talking about it. It was last summer... I was 16. Lots of fond memories..."

And of course, on disc two, Seifer basically confirms this with his:

"You gonna fight me too? Rmember last summer when we. . ."

Its also generally assumed that her relationship with Seifer was how Rinoa gained enterence to the SeeD ball, and how she was able to get Cid to help out the Forrest Owls.

I'd forgotten about that. If my 4th disc wasnt scratched like a cat's clawing post, i'd replay the game.

If I remember, it all started with Seifer giving her a tour of garden, if it wasnt, then I think he was showing her where Cid was. After that it grew.

I was also under the impression that it was a summer fling thing. I can't remember quite right, but when reading the rules in the Desk Tutorial, I recall it being said that Balamb Garden gives it's students summers off like normal schools do. Logically, it would make sense then.
