What is it about the Great Gatsby lately? It seems to be showing up in the oddest places. :p

I hated that book...

But yeah... this looks like a serious problem. I think it's got the main forum page too.

Dang - it must have just happened then.

Nothing's happened to the main page. It's always been that same old... first chapter of The Great Gatsby?

That was funny as hell. Reminded me of Andy Kaufman.

I don't think I know of one person who likes the Great Gatsby. Just proof that the schools are really out to ruin kids lives.

Everyone that I know that's read it says they hated it. I had to read it in 12th grade, and chose to fail rather than suffer through it. Heh.

Hacking us to make us read The Great Gatsby... Screw them in the ear. Could've at least put up something worth reading.

I loved the Great Gatsby. ;_;

I'd have read it again if it was more than the first chapter there. :/

There was a link at the bottom of the page to chapter 2.

They should have put up Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. Now THAT is an awesome book.

I don't know what you Gatsby-haters are talking about. The Great Gatsby's a fantastic book.

I would also like to point out that EoFF's front page being The Great Gatsby is about ten times as confusing if you're drunk like I was when that happened.

Ouch!

Indeed. I'm reading a selection from the Guide for our "oral interpretation" of a story for speech class.

"I demand that I am Vroomfondel!"
"It's all right, you don't have to demand that."

wow, I wish I did that. Great Gatsby is a great book. It's one of the most important works of American fiction, too. Maybe if we put more great literature up I'd actually look at the front site from time to time.

Yeah, I'm sorry I missed it. I never read the book, but I really liked the movie. :)

Finally some people agree. I loved the book. I liked the movie. And I loved the short story the book was based off of. I don't remember what it was called, but it was by Fitzgerald as well.

I did like the movie... Robert Redford is a great actor...

I think people are likening The Great Gatsby to their high school English classes. Nobody liked high school English, so this book represents all that subdued and misguided rage.

I thought it was awesome. :) (the book, not people hacking here)

Has anyone actually talked to the people who hacked the site, or was it a planned joke thing?
