A-Ha. They were Technically a two-hit wonder with that one song that wasn't nearly as big as "Take On Me", though.

John Denver was a one-hit wonder? I thought he was renouned as some form of a music legend.

JOHN DENVER - Rocky Mountain High

I'm not sure if you're serious, or just trying to pull my chain. I'll go with the former, and have fun proving you wrong.

John Denver is known as one of the greatest music artists of the 1970's, and it's certainly not because he was a 1-hit wonder. The album you chose to post, Rocky Mountain High (released in 1972), contained probably his most famous hit, Rocky Mountain High, however that's absolutely nothing to his overall resume. The year before, in his Poems, Prayers, and Promises album, he found success in the #1 hit Take Me Home, Country Roads, and from his greatest hits album (still one of the best-selling albums ever), Sunshine On My Shoulders. Three years after RMH, he released Back Home Again, which went platinum.

To say that John Denver was a 1-hit wonder is a ridiculous claim. I can name, easily, 10 songs that most people from that time should know:

Leaving on a Jet Plane
Take Me Home, Country Roads
Sunshine On My Shoulders
Rocky Mountain High
Back Home Again
Annie's Song
Thank God I'm a Country Boy
Calypso
Perhaps Love
Seasons of the Heart

He was a household name from 1969-1980, but after that his success declined. To say that he was a 1-hit wonder is just a flat-out stupid claim.

I certainly would not practically worship a one-hit wonder, I guarantee you. He should be a 50-hit wonder, from all of his less-known songs that I know of now.

Jimi Hendrix was also a 'one hit wonder', given that his only hit was with his cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower", but, like Denver, his influence on music (and indeed, his talent), went far beyond any pop-chart success.

And reading that makes me wish I'd bough the John Denver vinyl records I saw at the thrift store, so I could send them to ya, Kiro. Maybe if they're still there next time I go, I will.

That would be awesome. I only have one non-compiled album, an 8-track tape of the 1978 album I Want to Live, and that's my mom's, who no longer has an 8-track player.

If the records arent in bad condition (unfortunatly lots are scratched six ways to Sunday) and I find them again, I'll most certainly buy them and send them to you.

I've got a few One Hit Wonders on my playlist, but I can't remember them all at the moment (and I'm away from home). One that immediately comes to mind, though, is Right Now (possibly the wrong title) by SR-71.

It's a catchy radio song, and I usually enjoy listening to it when I come across it during shuffle every now and then.

'Movies'. But yeah.

My favorite was Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside a broken Phone Booth With Change in My Pocket

I recall that song. Wasn't it the theme song in a movie?

Take care all.

This one song by Jimmy Ray, I think it's called "Are you Jimmy Ray?"

I thought it was cool back in the day...but if they played it today everyone would be like...what the heck is this!?!

I just thought of another one: New Radicals - You Get What You Give. Good song, but I've heard nothing else from the New Radicals. It very possibly could just be me, though.

I've been listening to the Dope remake of that song lately. It's a good song.

That's because shortly after that, they were in an accident with a semi in their tour bus. One of the members died, and the other is paralyzed for life.
