This is the only forum I've ever really joined...all other forums, I just lurk and read other people's posts. It's not so bad. Though, now that I am actually a part of a forum thingy, it feels weirdly like a little family or something....you know, a group of perfect strangers that I feel safe with. I don't know. I think lurkers have a bad image solely due to the name. To lurk, as well as mean to lie in wait. Can also mean both to; lie in ambush, and to behave in a sneaky and secretive manner. Yes, it's not a particularly nice name. Maybe if someone changed the name "lurkers" to "readers", they wouldn't get this negative image.
