Questions about the FF III subcharacters that join you

I just want to know what kind of abilities and weapons they can use in battle.

None. They just tag along for story purposes. They don't even appear on the battle screen.

Do they at least tell you what kind of job classes they are?

They don't have job classes. If I had to make up labels for them, though, I think these would be fitting.

Cid - Engineer
Desh - Guardian
Elia - Priestess
Allus - Prince
Dorga - Magic Master
Unne - Dream Master

I was about to post all of those same things, except I was gonna call Dorga a Sage.

I'd definitely say she's not a mermaid. I might call her "Water Maiden" though. Oh, and Kishi, you forgot the line that joins your party when you get the Dwarven Fang thingy.

I don't think the line should really count as a character. What would its class be?
