Your Best Blitzball Score

My highest score, was 13:0. Every point after 10 was excrutiatingly painful to get. That is, to keep beating my record things had to keep going better and better. Had I kept playing and pushed my characters to 99 I wonder if I could've beaten 13.

I just couldn't get to grips with the Blitzball at all! I was so bad at it and I played for hours as well but I guess you are just good at some things and bad at others.

In fact... come to think I am pretty awful at all the mini-games.

If you look at mini-games not as a challange to be overcome, but a game to be played in their own right, then you'll get better at them. The same way you learn what magic and skills are worth using, and when to use X skill with Y character, you'll learn when to use the special shots, and throws and tackles and what passive skills are worth taking. Which players to have on your team and in what position. Blitzball is very deep and well thought out for being just a mini game. If you approach it the same way as you approach the main game, you'll get better.

My highest score was 15 to 0. I had my players levels maxed-out and had Tidus use Sphere Shot as soon as each session began or as soon as I recovered the Blitzball.

Oh no don't get me wrong, I think Blitzball is amazing! I wish it were real, I'd go watch but it's just too difficult for me. I will probably give it a try when I play FFX again but I'm playing FFX-2 again and it's rubbish on that.

Blitzball in X-2 is a totally different animal compared to FFX Blitzball. It focuses on the managerial end rather then the player end.

15-0 was my pesonal best, which I've achieved several times. I can see 16 happening easily, however. Beyond that, I would think the time restraints simply become too radical. Anything beyond 12, really, involves at least some luck. In those games (15), I used only regular shots, as animation for Sphere Shot, Invisible Shot, Jecht Shots 1 and 2, etc. waste too much time. As to the luck, it really depends on how quickly you can steal the ball, and how quickly you can get a shot off.

My best score in FFX-2 was 7-0, for obvious reasons.

Yeah, you need to avoid the animations. Anything that stops play but allows the clock to run will kill your score. Even the opposing goalie can hurt your time if he uses skills with animations.

Very true. That's one of the aforementioned luck elements.

I got 11 one time and I felt quite positive that any higher would be basically impossible, I can't believe some of these numbers.

Luck is a major factor, but knowing how to game the system is a big part of it. Once you're certain of victory you can experiment and find out how best to maximize your score.

Because you have 10 minutes on the clock. Each goal costs time in the form of a Blitzoff and stealing the ball back, and you'd still have to manage to score 3 times a minute.

that's imposble cuase it would take at least half a minute to score so te max score could be around the 20 but 30 no way

16:0 against the Al Bhed Psyches at Lv 99. I had Nimrook on my team, so they had to make do with Durren (Max CA of 24). I had Linna (SH 92) in midfield position so all I had to do was tackle Berrik (56 EN against 67 AT) and shoot. Easy as that.

from beginnin of games i can usually scire a goal in the first 5-10 seconds

There are only so many places you can shave time off of. A Blitzoff is required at the start of the game and after each goal which wastes seconds. Stealing the ball takes time because the opposing team gets the ball after you score. If you built your team around scoring and everyone was a capable shooter in his or her own right, I still couldn't see scoring 30 points in one game.

Third game of blitzball ever againts the kilika beast was 17-0. Nap Shot just ruled them.

Not to brag but I got 14:0.

15:0 against the Kilika Beasts, highest leveled player was Brother, about lvl 30. I didn't start playing blitzball until after I beat the game because it was a Tidus solo run and I was staying focused. Brother (At: 16, 20 with Wither Tackle 2, Sh: 21, 25 with wither shot 2) just tackled the mf, Zev Ronso (en: 16), and shot on Nizarut (Ca: 9). Only my second time through the league.

Ehmm, 11-0, but 7-0 at half. I've never been a great player... and never really bothered scouting.

EDIT: The only things I'm proud of in my blitzball career are: 1) 2 goals in 1:08; 2) 31 goals with each of my forwards in a league season.

I think it was 17-0. Wedge had the best tackle in the world at that time, and the best endurance. He'd tackle the player who received the ball, run over a score. This happened 17 times.

I had about 12-0. It was like 10-0 at half time but I just couldn't get the ball from them that often second half. It was against the Guado Glories.
