What are you currently reading!

I am reading ‘Underworld: Blood Enemy’. It’s basically the prequel to ’underworld’. It’s about how Lucian a Lycan (werewolf) falls in love with a vampire named Sonja and how the whole War against vampire and werewolves started.

What about you?

I'm almost at the end of Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 by Hunter S. Thompson. It chronicles the Presidential race of 1972, mainly focusing on the campaign of democrat George McGovern. It's a wonderful peice of journalism.

Book: James Barclay, yearly basis.

The most recent book I read was Demonstorm, by Barclay. I love his stuff (if you ever read them, make sure you read them in order).

I'm close to finishing the first (It's called the Reality Dysfunction) of 3 books in the Night's Dawn Trilogy by Peter. F. Hamilton. It's a Sci-Fi/horror book, which is a new genre for me, but I'm very impressed so far, and can't wait to buy the second one.

I just finished reading the seventh and last book in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, and now I'm off to read The Talisman by the same author.

King has been writing the Dark Tower over the course of thirty+ years, and it's an epic I would describe as sort of a dark fantasy version of Lord of the Rings, only more enjoyable to read (frankly, I find Tolkien's writing style somewhat boring). A good number of his books have ties to the Dark Tower, and I hope to read a few of those now.

Tigana, by Guy Gavriel Kay. The first chapter was eh, but since then it's been really good. It's not exactly what I was expecting, but perhaps it's better this way. But I'm still thinking about Enchantment, by Orson Scott Card. WOW.

The Talisman and it's sequel, The Black House, have a lot of ties with The Dark Tower. Both are excellent.

So I'm told by the person who lent me The Gunslinger and in effect got me into the whole series. I borrowed both books from him and am about 150 pages in the The Talisman. I like the idea of the young boy main character, so I don't know what to expect from Black House. Whatever the case, I'm looking forward to it.

I finally finished both Catch-22 and The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Universe a couple of weeks ago. I think tomorrow I'll start book two in the Dark Tower series, depending on whether or not I can get to the library before work.

...on a more serious note, I'm reading Lord of Chaso, being book six of The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. The pace is somewhat plodding, but the quality of the writing remains great.

Incompetence by Rob Grant.

It's very funny so far. Not quite as funny as Fawlty Towers or Douglas Adams that it has been compared to, but still an enjoyable book.

I rather enjoyed Lord of Chaos, though it's not as good as The Great Hunt which has been my favourite book so far. I am somewhere half way through book 8 (The Path of Daggers) at the moment, but I've postponed my WoT reading until the Summer. I love reading about the Forsaken and Aes Sedai, in particular Verin, Moiraine and Siuan

OMG I LOVE the wheel of time series! Though I finnished reading it right after the prequel came out so I'm patiently waiting for the next book to get done. In the meantime I've been reading The Shinning by Stephen King and Dragon Drums by a lady whose name I can't remember.

After that then I'm going to re-read 'Lost Souls' by Poppy Z. Brite.
