I happen to be a very avid fan art/doujinshi (Japanese fan comics) collector, and I've got plenty of images of Tifa that are very tasteful (and some that arent too. I just love the art style sometimes! xD)

That's very true. I don't think Tifa's a slut, but they gave her a design that makes people want to draw bad images of her. It's completely un-fitting for her character to be portrayed that way in fan art and even a bit un-fitting the way the game makers dressed her. That kind of appearance makes all those lonely people draw her like that. She's used in practically every hentai you could think of and it's only because of her appearance. I'd just ignore those images. Maybe try going to a site that you know that doesn't have images like that, like rpgamer or rpgfan. Some place that's basically censored so that you don't have to worry about seeing images of her being portrayed as a slut. Rpgfan has an amazing fan art of her.

Tifa's appearance is very "sexual" - capacious bosom, toned muscles, long flowing raven locks. As a result, when hormonally challenged fans decide to draw her, they sexualise her behaviour to match what they think of how she looks.

Tifa's a sweet, loving and loyal character with a strong will to fight for who and what she believes in. Nothing anywhere in the game suggests otherwise.

Aeris, however, often gets called "slutty" when the evidence is similarly superficial:

1) She doesn't look slutty, so that means she is

2) She had - gasp - TWO DIFFERENT ROMANTIC INTERESTS, Zack and Cloud, which just proves she's promiscuous even though those interests were seven years apart

3) She liked Cloud, and offered to go out with him one one date if he protected her

Not a very strong case, really. Aeris is definitely more flirty and outgoing than Tifa, but neither is promiscuous. You mihgt as well try to say that Lulu in FFX is a 'slut' just because she's more flirty than Yuna.i mean, the one who dress like a slut is rarely the slut.

Aeris had a boyfriend when she was 16; to some (mainly Western) people, this would imply a sexual relationship, but from a more conservative viewpoint (mine, for instance) there's nothing that overtly suggests she had sexual relations with him.

The characters inn FFVII aren't THAT inexperienced or 'innocent'. In one section we encounter cross-dressing for the purposeof seducing a man, THE HONEY BEE INN, and three party members posing as prostitutes. It was bright and colourful, not very good graphics, and it was funny, but it still happened.

Yes Aeris was in a church, but that means... actually what does that mean? Is religion actually mentioned much, or at all in the game? The only vague reference is the Cosmo Canyon stuff, but that hasn't a lot of bearing on views about sex.

Seeing as how the way that scene plays out is as dependent on the choices the player has Cloud make as the date scene in the Gold Saucer earlier in the game, the debate concerning it really shouldn't have endured as long as it has.

If one has him be extremely nice to even relatively nice to Tifa, the scene will play out in a manner that would potentially suggest they had sex, however, the scene isn't static. It can be different. If the player doesn't have Cloud's affection level with Tifa be really high, a good deal of the affectionate dialogue is removed. With that in mind, I wouldn't characterize the scene with the suggestion as canon. There really shouldn't be a debate about this scene any more than there should be a debate about who Cloud's date in the Gold Saucer was really with.

I agree. I'm not saying that Aeris definitely is, but she's definitely more fitting to be the slutty one than Tifa is. She 's better for the part.....her innocent flower girl appearance, who blatantly flirts with Cloud ALL the time, no matter who's around.

Tifa and Cloud were supposed to be childhood sweethearts, or something, weren't they? That doesn't fit the slutty part to me.

Admittedly, I've never tested the validity of this myself, as I simply didn't feel like spending 40 to 50 hours trying to test this by being as merciless to Tifa throughout the game as possible and never using her in battle, but I had heard about it from a source some time ago that I considered fairly reliable and read about it on this website (http://www.geocities.com/ffviilovetriangle/LastNight.htm). The most notable thing about the site is that it has screenshots. I suppose it possible that they could have been altered (the text screenshots wouldn't have been terribly difficult to alter, I suppose). However, the last one where Tifa is standing over at the windows of the Highwind makes me doubt it, though I suppose it possible that even that could be a forgery.

Part of me would like to say that it is authentic, as it would mean there really is no point in debating this too often debated matter -- it usually descending into silliness or a battle between the pro-Aerith for Cloud and pro-Tifa for Cloud folks -- yet on another level I wish it weren't, as it would mean that Cloud really was opening up to Tifa beyond any doubt as I hoped he would due to the dedication and care which she displayed for him.

However, wishful thinking aside, I believe it to be true.

Ironically, if it is true, that would mean that all those in pro-Aerith for Cloud camp who argue that the odds being stacked in favor of Aerith being his date for the Gold Saucer -- and, thus, his destined true love -- (as she has a higher starting affection level than Tifa, Barret, or Yuffie) would have to concede that the game has things stacked in favor of Cloud opening up to Tifa later, as one would have to go out of their way to be a complete jerk to her to achieve the less-affectionate outcome. It really is balanced out between them.

Yup, jynx. I'll admit, that I'm always a jerk to Tifa. I buy the flower from Aeris and give it to Marlene. Marlene's cuter anyway. I have to say that the dialogue is basically everything there except for the stuff in italics. Actually, it's more of friend like moment. There's not really any relationship stuff at all. Just like friends. That's one of the things I like about the game...you can choose your couple. I could never bring myself to be mean to Aeris anyway. Actually, a lot of the things Tifa says, Cloud doesn't reply to if you're a total jerk to her. He basically just sits there and stares at the stars. I guess there will never be proof that either couple is actually the true couple of the game.

And Aeris isn't a slut. If you recall during the scene when they enter sector 6 (can't remember the town name), Aeris says that place is dangerous for girls. Implying that she doesn't like going there. She wouldn't have said that if she were a slut. And her relationships don't prove anything. That would be like saying that any of the girls from FF games are sluts because a lot of them have had relationships. None of the girls are sluts, really.

There are a lot of "interesting" fan art pictures out there of all the characters. Just do a google image search w/o safe search on and plug in their name.
