wouldn't you (if you was cloud) jumped to save aeris when you see sephiroth coming down on her with his stupidly large katana/nodaichi??? i knw i would have
Lenna

lol Are you sure about that? Anyway, you didnt see Sephiroth coming down til moments before. and you were sort of 2 big stone steps away if I remember correctly. Even if Cloud did jump, she still would have died.

He was too far away to stop Sephiroth. The played the scene in slow-mo, but it happened very quickly and Cloud was too far away. And to be honest, no, I wouldnt have.

Is that due to a disliking of Aeris or is that just cause you want to live? :P

Gotta credit Sephiroth for aiming that well when he jumped off a roof, or whatever he jumped off. I'd probably miss her by a mile or something.

I liked Aeris just didn't like her in battles, the only time I actually noticed she was there was in the storyline, not in battles. I found it quite irritating thought first time I played the game when I HAD to use her in my party for the Temple of Ancients. Especially fighting a big boss like Demon Wall.. I was well cheesed off lol

Because I know she needs to die for things to turn out right in the end, and I really dont care if she lives or not.
Now if I was in the game, traveling with her and not knowing how things would turn out, I'd probably try.

Cloud wasn't too far away. He was standing right over Aeris about to chop her up himself before he came to his senses and Jenovaroth had to step in and make sure business was taken care of. Not that it'd make a difference, since it'd still be a heck of a trick to intercept a falling body/huge sword.

Ah the words of a true hero :P. Personally I'd probably try but I'd wonder if she'd be thankful for it lol. I mean she goes there, willing/knowing she's probably going to face death, and basically faces death without.. meaning she either knew she needed to die in order to save the planet or she wanted to die to protect the planet.. regardless of whether it would or not.

I'm not a hero. I'm not gonna make false claims that I'm so brave and awesome I'd try to save her.
Oh that's right... good Lord I cant remember any of that game anymore. That's it, I'm starting a new file.

The implication offered by Aerith's Theme heralding the arrival of the Lifestream and her face appearing in its wake would be that she guided the Lifestream to take action against Meteor, adding more energy to Holy. If the Lifestream was going to step in anyway, Holy wouldn't have been needed to begin with. However, the Lifestream didn't seem to be stopping Meteor on its own. Recall that its tendrils coalesce beneath Holy, and the last thing we see of Holy and Meteor is a bright white flash emanating from directly in the center of Holy where the Lifestream's tendrils were gathering, suggesting that Holy became strong enough to counter Meteor:
The Lifestream gathers (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v132/Squall_of_Seed/HolyandLifestream.jpg).
Meteor is countered (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v132/Squall_of_Seed/MeteorisNeutralized.jpg).
Aerith's death wasn't in vain. She just didn't know she was going to die, and at the time, her death seemed to have accomplished absolutely nothing, as it wasn't known she had succeeded in calling forth Holy or that she was even trying to. However, it was a stroke of fortune on the part of the world that she did, as that allowed her to be within the Lifestream when the critical moment arrived.

:D hah can't get out of it then can you :P. anyway yeah back to the topic lol. Aeris had no idea what the materia was for right? and that I think her mother told her she'd know when to use it. that parts probably wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what Aeris said. So if Aeris didn't Die then the holy wouldn't have been summoned would it? I think that it's when she Returns to the planet that she summons it.

She knew what it was for once she got to the City of the Ancients, the same as Bugenhagen learned what it was for when he got there. The knowledge of the Cetra floating around in the air there told him, and would have likewise told her. Dying had nothing to do with it, however. Bugenhagen explains how the White Materia works, and dying had nothing to do with it:
Bugenhagen
"Holy... the ultimate White Magic. Magic that might stand against
Meteor. Perhaps our last hope to save the planet from Meteor."
"If a soul seeking Holy reaches the planet, it will appear."
...
Cloud
"Search for Holy... How do we do it?"
Bugenhagen
"Speak to the planet."
"Get the White Materia... This will bond the Planet to humans."
Bugenhagen
"Then speak to the planet."
"If our wish reaches the planet, the White Materia will begin to
glow a pale green."
Her prayer would have gone through before she died. She knew it had. She was locked so deeply in concentration on praying that she didn't even look up when Cloud was going to crush her with the Buster Sword, but a moment before she is impaled, she looks up and smiles.

Wow, never thought that was the case but you're right :), I just don't get why holy didn't react sooner than later if she had already prayed for it?
Why wait for the last minute like? :/

Exactly.
I've have most likely been too dopey to realise Sepiroth even WAS falling down with a big-off sword about to skewer her. So, sadly if I had been the game's main character, the same fate would have resulted *sighs* Although I would AT LEAST have fulfilled the duty of singing 'another one bites the dust' after the event

lmfao!!!!! @ Another one bites the dust. That would be classic though. I mean, if you were in the game Dr.K and you came out with that I'd be in hysterics. lmao That'd definitely brighten up my day. I'd be laughing for hours!

Because it was being held back by JENOVA/Sephiroth. It wasn't free to move until after AVALANCHE defeated them inside the Planet.

Um.. wasn't Cloud like.. being controlled by Sephiroth at the time, so he wouldn't of been able to jump in to save her?
Mercen-X
04-06-2005, 09:16 PM
I don't care. I would've just thrown that big-ass Buster Sword of his straight up through Sephiroth's head. Who knows? Maybe it would have prevented the summoning of Meteor if Cloud believed he had succeeded in killing his arch-nemesis. Then the only people they'd be left to deal worth would be the Shinra.
