For the future of FF's, what role would you like the Hero or heroine to be, a theif, a knight or even a muppet :p

i would love to see the lead be a female ninja

When I saw the thread preview, I thought, "That'd be pretty cool if it weren't half as dismal as that Red Ninja game."

I sure hope she isn't going to be dressed that skimpy (yes, I know, you like it, so don't mind me), otherwise, that drawing is awesome. I'd like to see the main character be a female dragoon (human, not like Freya, more like Kain). Then have the guy be a summoner. But the girl would be the actual main character, not just a main girl, but the main overall character.

A pirate or a viking would be good.

A mage would be interesting. And original for FF. Ive always liked Thiefs. The ones Id like to see most are a gunner main character or a fist fighter. NOT a monk. A *fist fighter.

We had a gunner main character in FFX-2 and a thief main character in FFIX.

I'd love to know the difference between a monk and a "fist fighter."

A mage would be an interesting main hero, and a rather nice change, perhaps.

Pirate or viking sounds good. Especially viking :D

Perhaps even an archer main character, but I guess archers and mages aren't really seen as "heroes" in comparison to knights and thieves.

I'd love to see a pirate, and a female heroine of some sort would definitly be nice. I know X-2 had it, but I'd like to see one leading a group of males, or at the center of the story like in VI.

I'd love to see a story about a lonesome female Bard, that'd be great.

A fist fighter is kind of like a brawler or, basically, any fighter who doesn't like carrying weapons and is inept when it comes to using various parts of his body other than his fists for fighting.

Monks are, like, worshippers. You hear about them a lot in Eastern religions. They wear robes, isolate themselves from society and spend all their time worshipping and making sacrifices for their worship. Maybe they won't eat, speak, have sex, cut their hair, grow their hair, come within a certain distance of any city etc...
They are also commonly known for their various writings. They're great unreliable historians. They survive all the wars because of sanctity of religion and non-affiliation with sides of a war, and then they recreate history with their religious spin etc.

They're really two very different kinds of people. Los of monks, in fact, have even taken vows against violence, or so I hear.

Personally, I'd be much more interested in a Final Fantasy with a Monk for a main character than a fist fighter. But, in ALL honesty, I'm with Chris. I think it's time we had a bard.

I was only talking in terms of Final Fantasy, obviously. In this series, a monk and a fistfighter refer to the same type of person.

In this series, a monk and a fistfighter refer to the same type of person.Thats not obvious and Martyr has summed up my opinion on the difference perfectly. Yes I know there have been thiefs and I want more. I HATED the gunner main character in X-2 mainly in personality. A gunner main character with a personality of any of the other FF main characters would have done the job perfectly for me. I want them to take another wack at the gunner role....or they could just....

So... chicks with guns, and a guy with a bunch of really bad cliched one-liners that can turn into a demon-thing.

I'm not talking about Marias (I dont know anything about that), but I dont see how Dante is any better than Yuna. Or, another FF gunner, Vincent.

What does that have to do with the gunner style though? Dante is a crap-for-brains character, but even I appreciate the style of the guy's fighting.

I was just giving an example of random gunners I thought were more impressive in the gunner role than Yuna. I wasnt serious when I said they should be used as FF heros. As far as what they have to do with gunners style, theyre gunners and I like the way they use there guns in combat.

They need to make moogles look like they used to. And then put one in the lead.

seems like this thread is popular

Kawaii Ryűkishi - i havent played it yet :)

Terra*Aeris - i actually posted it bacause it was the first one at hand...as for double posting it lol, if there was going to be a female ninja i would prefer her to be in full ninja armour, i HATE it when a game or comic starts talking about female characters relying on their sexuality, men stare at breasts no matter what a girls doing, so just get on with the action :)

Heath - depends what the archer is shooting lol (summon arrows)

Dante was badly written, but a good design, it blended gunplay and swordplay well for a change and he had a good looking costume in Devil May Cry 2

it's funny how you can find female characters leading a group of others all over the place, except in FF..dont they understand out needs lol
no whining females, i carnt stomach them

I don't think the main Character's role should be the most important. Standard sword fighter works fine. What I would like would be more focus on the support characters. Not all of them, maybe just the lead love interest, and best friend. For example more focus on Zell in FFVIII during Seifer battles. I watched Sahara the other day, and whilst the film itself got ridiculous, the interaction between the two lead males (despite one being more clearly the lead) was very entertaining.

Fairly tough, melee fighter as a lead, with a long range, fairly humourous best friend. I always pick the lead and love interest in a team, it'd be nice to have a bit more story driven influence over my selection of other characters.

Difference between monk and fist fighter in Final Fantasy are nothing really. A monk uses his/her fists as weapons, a fist fighter i guess would be anyone of any other vocation unequipped?

Yeah a decent gunner would be sweet. Here's a little thing I made up of RPG gunners a while back.

I'd really like to see a dragoon (jumping kind not Legend of Dragoon) be the main character. Closest we got is Kain. and Cecil was the main character moreso than Kain.

Or I like the FF6 approach of no actual main character. That was quite nice and made for a much more interesting story.

I wouldnt consider them monks. I prefer theyre fighting over the whole chinese feel behind Yang and FF1 monk. Sabin I never minded as much but that was probably because I liked his personality. He didnt seem like that disciplined chinese monk.

i loved Tifa, but Zell just didnt cut it for me.

im really not keen on the concept of Gunner, sure GunKata looked cool in Equalibrium, but in fantasy i prefer the classic weapons. An Amazon female with a whopping sword :)

I'd like to see a caster-type main character. And for once, a Summoner Male if classes are predetermind. I haven't played all of the FFs, but the ones I have that had predetermind classes, and not ones you could change at will, the summoners were always girls. Maybe a black mage male summoner guy for a main character :hyper: .

Gunblades

a male summoner would be a pleasant change, FF Unlimited had one, he fired summons from his Magun (summon gun)

a female lead with a Summon sword - she can do attacks with it plus summon with it
