Sometimes you just don't have the time for things anymore. You know what I mean?

Like, for example, washing dishes. I don't have time to wash my damn dish! So I often use paper plates. But we get the cheap kind of paper plates, and one of them never seems sufficient.

So I use two paper plates. How many do you use?

I have time.

I have time.

But if for some reason I use them, one is plenty.

I have all the time in the world to wash my dishes but I still use paper plates because I am totally lazy. I need to get out of that habit...

What's wrong with using paper plates?

Nothing's wrong with paper... it's just far, far cheaper to wash normal plates than buy disposables.

Is it? Washing dishes takes quite a bit of water if you do it by hand, and quite a bit of water and energy to run the dishwasher. Seems like it'd be about equal to me.

Since I eat at the Dining Hall, this is pretty much a non-issue for me right now.

Paper plates cause more garbage and I'm only allowed a bag a week. Stupid garbage people...

I use paper, mostly. I don't do the dishes, but I see no reason to make more work for my mom who does do them. I'm a real effin humanitarian.

We get the good plates, though, so only one per food stuff.

I actually enjoy washing dishes after a meal, something that I inherited from my grandfather. It's some form of zen meditation after I've eaten.

Take care all.

That causes more waste and kills more things. I don't mind washing my own dishes.

But when my parents let the dishes pile up for a week and then ask me I get pissed. See, this is how the people in my house use dishes:

Get a cup, get something to drink, drink it, throw it in the sink. Five minutes later I decide I want another drink. I repeat the process, as I will throughout the day.

And then the plates are rediculous. They'll pour chips out onto a plate instead of just eating out of the effing bag. They'll repeat the process throughout the day, just like the cups.

Then they'll wait until there's not one dish left to eat off of and say "hey John, would you wash the dishes?" and of course I'm not going to say no, not because they're my parents, but rather if I piss them off anymore than I already have they'll probably kick me out and I'll be homeless...so yeah.

Summary: Washing my own dishes is cool, and maybe a couple others, but not a weeks worth from 4 people that use as many as 12 people would.

I wash dishes, but when i get the chance, i serve everything I can, i paper plates, and cups.

But then my mother tries to get me to wash the paper plate. Defeating the whole purpose of buying disposible paper plates.
They dont say rinse and reuse, geeez.

I use the expensive paper plates, mostly. I can't stand the flimsy crap inless I'm eating sandwiches (Which I do a lot, so I always have plenty of flimsy paper plates).

I will wash dishes, and I do because nobody else will, but I'll avoid it if I can.

If there's a few dishes to wash, I wash them. After a massive meal, we use the dishwasher. But paper plates are used occasionally. I use one :)

Yup. 'Wash the dishes to wash the dishes', as Thich Nhat Hanh said. An example of mindfulness, and how by living in the moment you do not have to compartmentalise your time- all time becomes 'your time'.

I enjoy washing the dishes too. What I don't enjoy is the fact that my housemates know this and abuse it wantonly :D

The Captain, Neel, and Nod, you are welcome in my house anytime you want. I HATE washing dishes. I dunno why, even when there aren't many to do I use guilt, bribery, threats and force to get out of it.

But I always end up doing them anyways.

We don't use paper plates cause I'm a hippie.

My chore is to wash dishes. It's hard to load them into the dishwasher, because I'm lazy. I've suggested paper plates and my family said no. :(
