I'm leaving EoFF forever!

Wait, no I'm not. That would be stupid. If I ever said that I'd be like "omgwtf" tomorrow and come back and post out of boredom.

If you ever left EoFF, would it be forever? Or are you like me and don't see a reason to limit yourself like that? What keeps you coming back anyway? Do you with anyone else would leave forever?

I tend to take breaks from the internet here and there, but generally enjoy myself here so I see no real reason to leave. I also find that I learn a lot about the world and about other people here so it helps me to grow as a person by staying, in my opinion.

Nope, I wouldn't leave forever. At most my breaks last six months, the last of which was about a year back. I might take another one soon to prepare for the summer exams, but that would be out of necessity rather than personal choice.

The reason I stick around is simple. I wouldn't want to leave people that I've known for years, even if we've never seen each other. It's been almost four years since I joined, and it would be difficult to just cut something like that out of my life. There are just too many memories.

I think I took off from EoFF for a month because I was mad at it, but at that time I was bored with EoFF as well, so it wasn't hard.

I stay because I find you people interesting and amusing. This place is nice to unwind, becuase nothing in my outside life has anything to do with what goes on here, and vice versa. I try to a good job as a moderator so that other people can get the same enjoyment that I do. That also gives me a good feeling.

I don't understand this "leaving forever" nonsense. That's just admitting that you're going to hold a personal grudge against someone/thing forever, and never be able to let it go. Basically, admitting that you're a stubborn twit. However, things could happen here which could make me want to leave temporarily(either days or weeks).

I've left EoFF before - for as much as...6 or 7 months(years ago). Not for anything EoFF did - I just got busy and didn't want to waste time online, or due to personal reasons. Eventually, I feel like spending time online again.

I've been back for a good long time now...can't see myself leaving again anytime soon.

I don't have a reason to leave at the moment because I am still interested in the forum and community. If I did leave I doubt it'd be over any "internet drama"...since I try and stay out of that xD. I don't think I'd ever definately LEAVE for good.

Like you, I wouldn't feel the need to limit myself. If I was bored and didn't wanna be round I'd probably just come back every so often when I felt like it, or just not be around so much. Although I think I'd always come back, out of curiousity if nothing else xD And there's always the general gaming forum, and I don't think my interest in games will be going anywhere too fast...

I don't have a reason to leave EoFF forever. I'm still attached to EoFF, but the thought of leaving EoFF behind me creeps up because of personal reasons. If I do leave, I may come back. I may not. Depends on the situation. If people I know are still around, I'll stick around. If there are tons of new people. I'll stay low, or stick to #eoff. <3

1. Every forum that interests me was closed

2. I got banned

3. The rules were changed to allow posting of pr0n and flame

4. Staff started using their powers to edit posts and profiles in a defamatory way

5. Staff started hacking into my hard drive or similar

Basically, things would have to change in such a big way that posting here would no longer be enjoyable. I can't foresee any of this happening.

It's inevitable that all of us will eventually stop posting, for one reason or another. Your circumstances or job change, or you simply lose interest in internet-based discussions... many people register, then only post for a few days before disappearing again. This forum has 8,463 registered members at present; many hundreds of old accounts have been pruned, too.

That means that a good eight thousand or so people have simply stopped visiting EoFF.
It's no big deal, really. You can't expect everyone to love the place.
Some take a while to decide it's not really their thing.
Some just feel no attachment to the place and don't care about posting.
Some feel too much attachment and become distraught every time their "second home" changes in a way they don't like, so they leave too.

I'm in favour of a happy balance - posting for enjoyment and to meet interesting people. Not making EoFF the foundation of my life, but not neglecting it either.
