Then use Google Maps, with their new satellite maps! (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=31+Dresden+Court,Lower+Sackville,+Nova+Scotia&ll=44.763547,-63.689804&spn=0.008411,0.010664&t=k&hl=en)

Very nifty program, even though it can be used for the wrong reasons.

Wow, the suburbs of california are gross. And it won't go close on my address or anyone elses I know! >:O

This will make my job so much easier :greenie:

I had to open it in IE because it wouldn't load up the satellite image in Firefox. :(

It's pretty neat, though. You can zoom in really close. I could see the pool in my backyard.

Kane, just put the exact address in the Map search bar. Or maybe it's because you're in the neglected province of Newfoundland?

Yam - I'm using firefox and it worked just fine for me. :p

It loaded just fine for me in Firefox.

This is interesting. Looking at my location and then looking at a few others of those of you who live in big cities, I'm glad to be just where I am. Everything is green.

Yeah, but Vancouver sucks either way. ;)

Vancouver <i><b>Island</b></i>. Far different from Vancouver. :)

Hey ma! I can see my house from here!
....Since when did all those people have pools?

Yamaneko
04-12-2005, 11:05 PM
I had to enable javascript features. :)

I attached two images. The first one is a general image of where I live. The second shows my house.

Heh. Look at how much open space there is where I live. Nova Scotia has a very small population, as it is under one million people in the entire province (state to you Americans).

No, it'll show up if I zoom back enough to see like half of the city but not close enough to see any individual houses or anything like that.

Halifax Housewife
04-12-2005, 11:17 PM
Ah, yes. That happens with some of the southern countries as well. Google hasn't reached 100% completition with zooming in on Newfoundland entirely. I told you it's a neglected province. ;)

Holy crap, Cuchulainn you're from Northern Ireland. So am I! :D
Sorry, that was off topic, but I don't think I've ever seen seen a Northern Irelander in here.

It's a pity that this map only covers North America. :(

The first attachment is my house. You can't see the pool for some reason. I guess it's just that dirty.

The second attachment is my school, Southwest High.

The third one is a picture of both my school and house, to show how close they are to each other.

Yup, brought up in west belfast now live in north belfast. I won't corner you by asking where you live, it's a touchy subject here sometimes, I'll leave that up to your better judgement. NICE TO MEET YOU ANYWAY FELLOW NORN IRONER!

Sorry about the hijack....please resume the thread topic. Oh, and complain to google to get their satellite asses over the pond, thnx.

I can hear it now...."OMG TEH APOCALYPSE SING OF EINDIN TIEMS~~!~!!!1!!1!111!"

The first attachment is where I currently live. The second attachment is where I lived before I came here, all of my life, until I was 15.5, which is when I came here. =/

But hopefully I'll be moving back next semester. YAY!

Here's my house. The San Joaquin River is about a quarter-mile to the north, and Highway 99 is about a mile to the west.

My house is nice. Sverige; Örebro. :fpcow:

Örebro is, by my very approximate estimation, the spot under "my house". It's a nice place to live. :)

I take it it only works for North America, like most satellite things these days. *grumbles*

EDIT: Never mind - looks like it's just the places I was looking for at the time. Still can't find satellite pictures of any of the places I want to look at, though. :(

I forgot to look at this when I got home last night, I can't get it to work using IE here at work. o_o Well it works, but there's a bunch of broken url tags all over the place.

Check out this satellite view from the same Google image thing. You won't be sorry.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=2064-fm,smithville,+tx+78957&ll=30.081854,-97.139397&spn=0.060768,0.085316&t=k&hl=en

Some guy cleared out a huge acreage of woods in the shape of his last name, so that it can be seen from space.

Groovy. Although it makes me sort of nervous, but I'm just dumb like that. It's cool that they actually have my house on it.

:D

Halifax Housewife

Nah, I see nothing nervous with it. I think it is a safety hazard, but hey, everything is a safety hazard nowadays. Gotta learn to live with it.

Wow, that's kind of cool.

My hometown doesn't have the satellite images yet, but my university does. ^^

Holy crap, that's scary. Here is my work. That picture is dated though, because the golf course is being rebuilt now (I work at the building across the street, not the golf course).

EDIT: It keeps on reseting to the location of the thread starter, so never mind.
