Does anybody know what Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec means? I've looked at about a thousand different translations of Liberi Fatali, and none of them translate these four words. Do they mean anything, or are they just there to sound cool?

If you rearrange the letters you get "succession of witches" and "love" which are the main themes of FFVIII.

Braindead_Paul is absolutely correct. It's worth noting, by the way, that "Succession of Witches" is one of the many pieces where "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is chanted.

It's in the fine tradition of 'The World is Square' in FFVI.

And the talking brooms in FFI.

Wow.........I always thought the sorceress theme was cool. That gives it so much more meaning.

Yeah - Nobuo Uematsu, who composed the music, explains how he created the nonsense anagram on the FFVIII Piano Collections soundtrack, I believe. That's how I found out about it.

It's chanted in Liberi Fatali too, where the rest of the song is in Latin.

Wait... I thought that Mr. Uematsu didn't speak english. Why didn't he make words by arranging Japaneese characters, rather than english letters?

It's chanted in Liberi Fatali too, where the rest of the song is in Latin.

"Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is chanted in the following pieces: "Liberi Fatali", "Succession of Witches", "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" (who would have guessed), and "The Extreme."

Of course he can speak english. . .

Right.

Oh, and he did rearrange japanese characters. it's called the Hymn of the Fayth. from fx.

I think most of us surmised that fact, yes.

In case we didn't, shiva blizzard surmised the point for us, succinctly.

It's chanted in Liberi Fatali too, where the rest of the song is in Latin.

I think it will hold a deeper meaning to me all my life. I am a witch, see.
And I knew it was Latin, I've studied it independently, because our school cannot find a teacher for it...

Here is the translation to the song of "Liberi Fatali"

Liberi Fatali (English)

Wake from your sleep
My children, your childhood years are gone
Wake from your sleep
Fated children, your rest if gone

Arise!
Search!
Go the the true garden
The garden of spring's truth

With fiery truth burn the evils of this world
With fiery truth light the darkness of the world
Farewell children
The day has died.
