View Full Version : Is Apple a Hypocrite?

I was looking at an article about Apple the other day and the major success that their iPod has been. Then I was also reading about how the iPod and iTunes does not play well with others in regards to file formats and inter-operability with other brands and that iTunes was only recently made available for Windows.. So I started thinking about all of the hoopla that Apple and Microsft went through about how Microsoft is a monopoly and doesn't play well with others and so on and so forth.

So my question is do you think that Apple is a hyporcite now for making their iTunes and iPod so proprietary?

Yes, but when you have a poll option that includes hippos it's very hard to resist.

not at all (reno)
in fact i'd rather boot winamp up than DivX or WMP beacause it's faster and i don't hear as much noise coming fromthe computer box

Opinion. I happen to think winamp sucks (can't even play WMA correctly) so there. :p

It'll cost you a blank CD per audio CD, but it's cheaper than getting audio converting software:

1. Burn your Ogg Vorbis tracks to an audio (normally playable CD).
2. Rip the CD - save the file as mp3s.

It'd work on a small scale, but probably not the best if your entire music library is encoded as Ogg Vorbis...

A fresh copy of winamp 5 from winamp.com, windows media audio 9 pro Lossless @ about 800kpbs vbr...lots of audio break-ups. No, its not my hardware, every other WMA-capable player worked fine.

It worked fine playing mp3s though.
