Is it just me or is FF8 getting better and better each time you play it? I'm just a sucker for that kind of plot...
Also, it's got some really nice points in the game where you just want to watch it over and over. ='D
Am I alone or what?

Been a damn long time since I played that thing. It's not one of the most popular FFs, but I did love it. It wasn't the love plot that intrigued me, it's just that once again, Square created a world and it was a fantastic escape from reality.
I liked it, but it doesn't keep me warm at night.

I've just grown attactched to it because of the characters and how they act. It was my first Final Fantasy game I ever played, then my sister introduced me to all of the other ones..it seems like a million years ago. :D

For me it was best the second time, and I only played it twice.

The game retains its awesomeness on every play through for me, and I have played through it at least ten times. I've lost track though.

There are some bad things to it though, like the graphics aren't very good at times. But they're fine for that year.

I've never been able to beat this game. My character's always seemed to have crappy weapons and stats by the time I got to the fourth disk. *sigh* Now I'll never get to see the amazing ending that everyone else is talking about. Why me? Anyway, I've played this game twice and stop playing it for sometime... I don't remember the last I played Final Fantasy VIII. *shrugs*

Despite some of it's flaws this game manages to drag me back to the couch over and over and over again. It is so incredibly addictive no matter how many times you have conquered it!
I think my relationship with FF8 could be described that way. Though I was a bit more enthralled the first time. I only gave up the first time too. I eventually grew to love AND hate the game. But I have since beaten it at least. Now I look back on it with fond memories. But I'm not sure I want to play it again.

What I did to never need to restart because I was too low on levels..is to work up all my characters as soon as I get them to 100 before I do anything. That way when you get to battles they go by quick, and you don't need to train any more. It's easy, though you have to be patient with your characters.
FFVIII, I could never get sick of it. Yea, it has its flaws. But I agree that it just draws you back. One of my favorite scenes is at the dance, and another while she's in space. I'll continue to love FF8 for as long as I know myself, so...FFVIII FOREVER!

Same here, Slade..
I think most people think the best FF is the one the played first.
I personally had never heard of Final Fantasies or Squaresoft before the ads for FFVIII started rolling. That's when I became obsessed. I still am :)

FFVIII is one of my favorites too.
My first one was the original FFI on the NES (which I became addicted to), then I played FF Mystic Quest on the SNES, and then put gaming aside for university. I loved FFI.
Finally, after about 5 years, I played FFVIII, and became addicted once more. I then played FFVII several months later. Without a doubt, I've always preferred VIII to VII, because of the "whichever-one-I-played-first bias". I really rather the junction system, because there is an option to do an automatic junction, if you're too lazy to swap all your spells around. The materia system doesn't offer automatic equiping, and I sometimes find it annoying having to swap everything around, especially after that beeotch Yuffie steals most of your materia :mad2:

It was my favorite... I kept playing and playing it until my little sister chewed the 2nd disc. *sigh*
The storyline itself is good, but the gameplay and characters are awesome! The Junction system is my favorite.

I loved it the first time I played it but I was probably too young to appreaciate it fully. So yeah I may have enjoyed it more second or so times.

Played it, loved it, played it again, loved it. This game rocks and as always you pick up more on a second run through.

Well, this game uses real life situations(Love, duh.) Except for the monster stuff, but it can be substituted. It has pretty good graphics for the year. It's characters are well described and have great personalities, all are different and don't act the same..and that's a great point in a game. They gave the characters individualality(sp?), and I loved how you switch parties every now and then. It lets me re adjust and doesn't let me get sick of one party.
I need to play FFVIII again, but sadly, our first copy of it's first CD can't be found, and the second copy of it doesn't work at the introduction.
FVII was also great, but I'd prefer 8. My brother thinks 7 is better, but ah well, I don't care for his opinion.

the first one i played was 7, and i still think 8 is the best. best story, best characters, best magic system, best ending. i've played it through roughly 25 times and it just doesn't get old. cool game.
I plan on playing it again soon. I've played it through twice I think....can't remember. It's good, though VII is still my fav. :D

My brother's favorite is FFVII, too..It's pretty good, and lots of people I know like it. But FFVIII is my favorite. I still have to finish FFX2, I bought it the week it came out a long time ago but my brother in-law wanted to play it, haven't gotten it back since.

The first time I played this game, I enjoyed it but liked FF7 more. After thinking it through over the years, and after replaying all the games and then finally FF7 another time, I realized that FF7 really wasn't as great as I initially thought it was.
FF8 HAS gotten better, and better, and better. There was a time when I hated it. I thought the characters were bland, the drawing system boring. I just don't agree with that anymore.
FF8 is the most exciting FF I ahve ever played, hands down. NOTHING from another FF can match the feel I get while I completed the various missions throughout the game, including the one with the train cars, Lunatic Pandora, assassinating Edea, and other things. The side story with Laguna was a really great as well... his relations with Raine and Julia, and their adventues, all connecting to Squall's relationship and Ellone too.
Another 'exciting' aspect of the game is attaining summons. A lot of the summons have fun side quests to get them.. rather it be Brothers, King Tomberry, Bahamut, etc. Gaining a new summon is a big deal, because you gain access to a plethora of new abilities to learn and stuff to junction.
Recently what sparked this game some new life, was the low level challenge, using 'card' to card enemies you fight so you don't gain experience but gain AP for your summons, then maxing out your stats with bonuses late in the game.
Every Final Fantasy I've found has a certain 'atmosphere' to it, and FF8 arguably has one of my favorites.

I think they should've given Ellone a bigger role.... And Seifer too, of course

This game is great IŽll never get tired of playing it over and over again. Just love it!!!
My first game and I have played it ...... hmm... many times :D
I don't usually play games just once, because when I play them again over and over I learn always something new about the story or something else.
Nice to see how many actually likes the FF8, like me. Many people who I know says FF8 is the worst... and I keep argueing with them :grumble:

It isn't just you. And yes it does seem to get better everytime. And it was already brilliant to start with.
So nope, you are not alone. *huggles*
