I have been invited to a linguists' ball in Shanghai for my 'achievements' (phhhhht.) When I go, I am going to wear 4 hairsticks on my hair.
I have tons! Which 4 should I choose?
1. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Ornate2.jpgThese are my two ornate ones, made of porcelain. One is black with white flowers and the other is blue with white flowers.
2.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/thrree3.bmp This one has a bird and a key. Very cute.
3.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Star1.jpg This one has a star and a butterfly on it, and it's blue.
4.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Pink1.jpg Pink and silver, with butterflies!
5.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/norm2.bmp These don't go together. But all the same, one is red marble and the other is white plastic. :skull4:
6.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/moon1.bmp Yes! It's a moon and star. Pretty, no?
7.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Heart1.bmp This is my favorite so far. It's bronze and set prettily.
8.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Green1.jpg This on is a soft, pretty jade one. Quite nice, catches my eyes.
9.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/feather1.bmpYes, a feather, cute, no?
10.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Design1.jpgThough it may not look it, it's extremely intricate and beautiful.
11.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/Cage1.jpgI made this one myself! It's black, and has a cage and some other dangles on it.
12.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/Iri_Valentine/brown1.bmpJust a brown one. I don't think I like it.
So?? Which 4?
If this thread gets closed, PM me!

Well, here is Rinen's idea.
I used Lulu makeup, too.
It's okay?
PS Look at my horrible sun poisoning! Ow!
The third one is RSL's idea. I don't like it as much. :skull4:
Will do undeadhero's soon. But all the same, I though Rinen's was brill!

They're so pretty. Very nice. (Well, you too!:p)

I don't see any of the "sun poisoning" though. No, wait... there it is on the arms... ouch!

Iri, what exactly are your achievements, if I may ask....

That's awesome though, have fun.

My achievements, apparently, are in language. Word got out that I taught myself how to speak almost fluent Chinese, and some German, AnGui, Latin, Romanian - and the rest of them. There's like fifty.
Do you think I should go with Rinen's idea?

They're all so pretty, I like the feather one. Are they not kinda tricky to use though? Whenever I try to use things like that, my hair just falls out of place. :(

Ko Ko

They're quite simple to use, really. Make a ponytail, and stick them in between the bands. Easy! They just stay there and jingle as you walk.

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to ebay to buy 50 new hair accessories!

Thanks Iri. :D

Is that the one that you are wearing in the pictures? If so, then yes. :)

Also, do you have any tips on how to teach oneself languages? I'm about to undertake the task of teaching myself Mandarin and Japanese.

LOL.
Learning languages by yourself is easy. Just buy a dictionary! But I would NOT, NEVER NO buy one that is single sided.

What do you mean by single sided?

Ko Ko
04-27-2005, 03:11 PM
English to Chinese is single sided.
Chinese to english and english to chinese is double sided.

04-27-2005, 03:18 PM
I see. I was thinking just buy a dictionary that has only the language you wanted to learn as single sided >_< So just Chinese.

Do any of them give you the power to shoot fireballs from your fingertips, and absorb bullets? If so, pick that one.

A dictionary will really let you learn languages? In my experience with learning French, I have a huge doubled-sided French Dictionary, but it only teaches me the words. It doesn't help me with pronunciation, grammar, how to write/speak it, etc. Maybe learning Chinese is different, I don't know. Obviously, vocabulary counts, but I didn't know if there was some way that one could get help learning the grammar of, and how to speak the language.

I'm glad I was of some help. Sometimes, I think teaching oneself languages could be more effective then a class. Yet at the same time, one could be lacking in the socialization of that language. I taught myself French, German, Portueguese, and Spanish, later on I took Spanish as a class. I started teaching myself Japanese, Russian, and was about to teach myself one of the Chinese dialects, but I never had the chance to get any dictionary. I'm not that fluent in the recent ones, and I'm starting to get rusty on my other languages that I taught myself since I left my dictionaries back at my hometown and there's no one around who speaks these languages.

Wow, I guess I'm in luck then if using dictionaries really helps. I just bought myself a Japanese language set course that has CD's with native speakers so you can hear what it sounds like, a double-sided Japanese English Dictionary, and a book that goes over the grammar of the language, etc. I'm looking to buy one of these for Mandarin, and one for French to help me brush up on the exacts and specifics of it.

If one can teach oneself with a Dictionary, I hope all the extras I have will help even more. :D
