It showed me the value of female main characters in video games.

Truthfully, it hasn't much. The only thing I've learned from the game is never to trust somebody that laughs all the time ;) .

Ummm...I don't think it has. I might even be proud to say that my perception on life hasn't been influenced by video games.

The only thing it might have done was to make my view of chivalry more glamorous, hence possibly leading me to be more chivalrous.

I learned that Australia isn't NTSC compatible

It gave me a newfound appreciation for spear-weilding anthropomorphized fluffballs.

Following dead people onto a train is a bad idea.

But seriously, it showed me that it is possible for people to make a video game with girls who aren't just mages.

I leanred that with enough will, one man can hold up a falling house. I also learned that you should never trust diplomats dressed like court-jesters, that were created , not born.

I learned that video games could show what goes on in a person's mind when they contemplate suicide. I seriously felt sorry for her in that scene.
I also learned that I love Celes.

Mor eevidence that people who are stranded in the wild and must learn to survive on they're own are always incoherent, kind-hearted, curious, helpful children.

You can get away with stealing stuff as long as it's referred to as "treasure hunting".

My belief in the beauty of limited palette graphics was reaffirmed.

I also learned that popular characters can be friggin' annoying. Yay die celes!

A man will still try to protect a woman that can kick his butt all the way to Neptune. Also, a purple octopus can find a job.

The death of one specific person can cause the death of an entire group, despite the fact that they can revive him. It also taught me that story-driven deaths cannot be reversed with a Pheonix Down.

yes banon that spoony bard! he was damn ugly!
well lets see i don't really let video games my perception on life, but what this game did do was launch me into FF compendium for the rest of my life. I got this game for x-mas when it 1st came out back in 93, i don't remember asking for it or anything, i think i just got it, but since then i've been an FF fan.

Since it was the first Final Fantasy I ever played, it taught me quite a lot of things.

That Final Fantasy rocks!
That I can still be amazed at old Super Nintendo graphics.
That there actually was a RPG better than Breath of Fire.
That the guy at Square who wanted Yo/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gifaka Amano's artwork back in 1987 was a genius.
That you can put screenshots from a videogame in your graduation thesis and that'll make your teacher interested. If she's open.minded enough, I mean.
That treasure hunters can be cooler than I thought.
That a foul-mouthed brat can be an amazing sorceress.

And a lot of other things.

1) No matter how hard you try... The evil guy will always destroy the world

2) Don't trust ghosts

3) Don't wander into caves

4) If you climb really tall towers, don't expect anything good at the top.

And most importantly:

5) Never speak to warewolves

That old school gamers are not just stuck in the past. Their claims of the old RPGS being the best have quite some validity.

Why is it that people feel the need to treat videogames as an inferior artform to everything else? I don't understand why just because it's a game it automatically is exempt from having any form of lesson or meaning. o_O
