View Full Version : FF1 Trivia

I thought that with my FF1 remake completed and undergoing testing, I'd start an FF1 trivia thread. When you answer a question, you may ask the next one.

Here's the first question...
Every monster in Final Fantasy 1 is capable of inflicting a "Critical Hit" except for one. Which monster is it?

Amiri

just a guess, i don't really know but...Chaos? he's kinda beyond critical...

Flying Mullet
05-02-2005, 06:19 PM
Warmech?

Llanowar
05-02-2005, 06:20 PM
Actually I believe its Warmech.

Fireblade13
05-02-2005, 08:55 PM
the goblin because he is beyond weak.

Black Mage FF1

WarMech can get a critical hit same with the imp. The only enemy in the game that cannot is the Sea Snake. Im like 90% sure on this.

Oh if I am right then the topic creator can ask the next question.

Fireblade13
05-03-2005, 08:47 PM
What makes the sea snake so special. I will try again with the big eyes because it can't attack.

Martyr

Big Eye can attack, can't it?

And unless I'm thinking of the Cobra, which nearly always crits, the sea snake would be a wierd enemy with that inability.

But then again, I don't know the correct answer. And I thought I knew everything (Not only about FF).
I do know that the Warmech will make a Critical Hit. Just, you know, to rub it in that even if my character had 100 more HP, he'd still be dead.

I'll make a fairly random guess and say Sorceror.
(Maybe it instant kills instead or crits)

Fireblade13
05-03-2005, 10:12 PM
No it can only gaze which paralsis which if you consider a crit a hit than it can crit.

Maybe because he has a criticalt hit % at 0? Like I said I am like 90% sure on this. I used to look up a lot of information on FF1. Deep info to, not so basic walkthrough.

Oh and where is the topic creator? Surely he knows the answer since he asked the question.

That is correct. :) Sea Snake has a critical hit possibility of 0%, meaning that he will never do a "critical hit".

Uhm... well, since you you've yielded the next question to me, here it is:
What is the probability of encountering WarMech on the fifth floor of the Sky Castle?

Flying Mullet
05-03-2005, 11:23 PM
Which version?

It's scripted so you'll always meet Warmech at the same time on the NES cartridge.

As for the remake, I believe it's a 1/64 chance.

I am referring to the NES version (I actually know very little about the programming of any of the other versions)...
The odds in the NES version are 3/64. The odds are 1/64 that you will encounter either 1 or 2 Fighters. As for running into WarMech at a particular point, I don't believe this is the case. In fact, there are no places anywhere in the Sky Castle where you fight anything other than random encounters, with the exception of Tiamat.

You get the next question. ;)

Okay, I don't know if I answered your question entirely, but I can ask another question.

Here's a simple one:
What hero's name appears on the tombstone in Elfland on the NES cartridge, and what hero's name appears on the tombstone in the remakes (PSOne and GBA)?

Nes Cartrige is Link
Psone is Chrono
GBA remake: Link

I think I won that one

No your wrong....
NES: Erdrick NESj: Link
PS: Link
GBA: Link

mihalis

I know it is Erdrick in the NES version, and Link on PS1 and WSC..

dunno about gba

Kawaii Ryűkishi

It's only Erdrick on the NES. Since all the following versions have had progressively better translations, they all say Link, which it's always been in Japan.

Fireblade13
05-06-2005, 11:47 AM
Wasn't it chronos in NES and link in all the others.

JaytodaP has it.

Chrono never shows up in any of the versions, of course I haven't played the WSC version but I would assume that it's Link there too.

You're up JaytodaP.

Chrono-Trigger wasn't even thought of when the NES version of FF1 was released... WAY back in 1987 ;)

In the European playstation version it's not Link. I think it's Edrick, but I want to check better when I can.

I have Snakes for hair, My blood is poisonous, and the first time you see me, it will be the last time you see me.

I know thats a riddle but who am I?

Lich3636
05-07-2005, 03:05 AM
medusa

Martyr
05-07-2005, 05:11 AM
Snakes for hair? That kind of gives it away, doesn't it? I mean, the ONLY thing in the world with "snakes for hair" is the medusa.

I mean, without that, the answer could also be basilisk (Using only final fantasy, we could also be talking Eye, Phantom, Cocatrice etc...) - Which, if you could add in something else to be more specific yet also more difficult, might make a far more exciting riddle.

In any event, I'm going to guess "Fire" for spite because in the nes version, his hair could be snakes and, for the life of me, I can't imagine that somebody is going to be living very long if he's so immersed in fire that he's hallucinating fire creatures with snakes for hair and, by some freak occurance, poisonous blood.

JaytodaP
05-07-2005, 01:38 PM
Yeah its medusa

mihalis
05-07-2005, 06:58 PM
Yeah its medusa

Ya know... Green Medusa has snakes for hair also! ;) So is someone going to ask a question?
(If not.. then I'll ask one!)

How many hit points does Lich start with the second time you fight him (in the NES version)?

Dragonfire
05-07-2005, 11:57 PM
in NES version I think it stays the same (400HP), but I haven't played it in a long time so I could be wrong.

EDIT: come to think of it, it's 500 HP, I'm stupid

Martyr
05-08-2005, 05:05 AM
I think it is 500 too, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'll shoot 550, just because I've had a train of unsuccessful second guessing attempts. (Curse my lateness)

Also, I think I might be correct.

Flying Mullet
05-08-2005, 05:51 PM
And I'll go with 400.

Martyr
05-08-2005, 11:23 PM
And I'll go with 400.

You obviously never made the mistake of wasting a FAST on your knight against the ToF Lich.
BAM! 432 Damage.
BAM! What? Lich ain't dead yet? *NUKE*

TasteyPies

Question asked 7th

Today is the 9th

Where is Mihalis?

I'm going to go with 600, its probably wrong and I know the first time you meet him its 400.

Flying Mullet

Actually I'm just throwing 400 out there since 500 is taken. :p

I've been extremely busy!! Sorry I haven't responded!

You're right... that's a waste. Especially the Nuke part.

The answer was 500. Next time just ask a new question already!! ;) Anyhow, here's an easy one, relating to the NES version like my previous questions:

Chaos has four special attacks (excluding spells). What are they?

Fireblade13
06-03-2005, 08:49 PM
Blaze Cyclone Tsunami Uhhhhh

mihalis
06-07-2005, 05:17 AM
Blaze Cyclone Tsunami Uhhhhh

Nope. None of those are correct for the NES version, but you certainly have the right idea.

I'm not sure about the others, as I've only played the WS and PSX version once each, and I haven't gotten around to DoS yet... From what I've seen/heard so far, it bears a striking resemblance to PSX and WS.

The correct answer is: SWIRL, CRACK, TORNADO, INFERNO

Next question:

Each of the four fiends' lairs contains monsters which are found in specific locations (non-random encounters) such as in front of chests, except for one:

Which lair does NOT contain non-random encounters?
(Choices are: Earth Cave, Gurgu Volcano, Sea Shrine, and Sky Castle)

Medi

You could consider the blue dragon at the entrance a fixed battle.

Dragonfire

not really.... the blue dragon is at the end of the mirage tower, so its not considered part of the sky castle

Sheesh... you're right! I'd forgotten I had posted that. Anyhow, Sky Castle is correct.

Ok...next question:
Which enemy is most likely to inflict a "Critical Hit"?

Magaso
06-28-2005, 11:57 PM
Saber Tiger=70% critical! Wow!

The Mech destroyer on the bridge because he is just too powerful that he is not doing a crit. I know I am wrong but I wanted to guess.
