Am I the only person who had a personal bank account at the age of 12? Even if I couldn't have my own card until I was 13, I think. It seems people these days just don't have bank accounts, even if they have jobs some of the time. Crazy.

I've had a bank account since I was around 13/14. I still kinda sponged off mother until 16 though :)

I've had my bank account since I was about thirteen. The first time I opened it, I put in $25. I drew it out two days later and haven't put anything on since  But now I'm sixteen, I am starting to put some money back into it.

I didn't get one until I had my first job at 16. No real use for one until then.

I think I've had one since I was about 6. Heck, probably younger.

But you have to remember that my parents met because they were colleagues working in, yep you guessed it, a bank. When you have a bank manager for a dad it's kind of hard NOT to have an account.

I had an account since I was 12, and my parents put in money once a month, which I usually take out as soon as it clears. :rolleyes2

I've had a bank account since I was 11 or 12.

Right now I try to keep as much money with ING as possible because they have the best rates around, 3% currently.

And actually, if anyone is interested in starting an account there, let me know, because when a member(me) refers anyone new(you), I get a $10 bonus and you get a $25 bonus for opening an account with them.

I'm 20 and I still don't have one. Mainly because I fear the bank would ban me without reason, which seems to be what people like to do to me.

I had a savings account when I was 12 most likely, but I couldn't get money out, just in. A giant piggy bank if you want ;)
Prolly got my first real account at 16, cheque book at 18, and a visa credit card at 20.

I've had an account since I was like 11 or 12, and savings bonds that I got when I was 11 and 12, but didn't really use the account much until I started getting jobs that paid decent money, when I was 16, and I got a checking account shortly after I turned 18 because I had to have it when I went to Iraq, or else I wouldn't be able to buy anything over there.

My local bank pays .25% interest. Those buggers.

EDIT: I forgot, they changed it. They don't pay 1/4% interest anymore. They pay 1/5%. Damn them.

im the same. I opened my first bank account at 12, and got a bank card when i was 13, (i think).

NOW, i have a completely overdrawn student account, an empty current account, and an almost totally maxed out credit card. Student debt is such a wonderful thing. :D

I've had a shared bank acount as long as I could remember. Started with my mom as share holder because I wasn't old enough to have my own. And I would have had an ATM card but I had to wait till I was 16 or 18 or some crap. Now I've got my lovely debit card and direct deposit from work to make life so easy ^_^

I've had a savings since I was a kid. My mom still wont let me touch it though. :|

Now I have a savings, and a checking, and a trust, and my old savings that my mom swears is empty but I know it's not goddammit!

Yes. Yes you are. :p

My parents helped me shove some money in a savings account at the local Post Office when I was younger. Theres about 300 pounds in there now (this keyboard has no pounds symbol, how annoying) but thats it.
I dont keep bank accounts because, simply put, I dont trust banks.

I got mine around 10, stuck all of my $50 dollars in there, then left it.

I wonder how it's doing.

Daniel, didn't your primary school have a postbankasb thing where you would take a dollar or something to school each week and the school would bank it for you even though you just wanted a pie or a marmite and chip roll?

I've had a bank account since around age 10, partially under my parents' names. It's been completely under my name for a while, but I still have it.
