It's a cool word. I think it should be spelled out.

vs>versus
best thread ever
Okay
...so tempted to just leave it as that (mock-age). Versus as a word is cool. But as X vs. Y it looks better being small and in the middle.

vs when paired with the two words, versus anytime else.

I personally like v. like how it's used in Court cases.

In the law reports in my country, it's simply "v", with no full stop.
Donoghue v Stevenson, for example.
You don't even say "versus" in our law reports, it's "and". Quite nice. Only problem is, a case like Me v You is said as "me and you". Just a random trivial detail for y'all.
When v isn't appropriate, I prefer "versus". Full words are better than abbreviations, in general.

vs. It looks better then used between two words. But any other time, yeah Versus is better.

I remember going around asking 'Who are we versing?!' in first grade when I played baseball for the first time.
versus. this thread is sheer Brilliance!

I go the extra step and just use nothing. It's much quicker.
Take, for example, the Ninja vs. Vampire thread, and apply my rule:
Ninja Vampire
See? The awesomeness is all round, and I didn't even get RSI.

I have grown quite fond of the legal way, just simply "v".
D, I didn't know that. =o That seems kinda silly. "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" is then a court case.

Has anyone seen the movie Versus? It's like a crappy Asian adaption thing... that makes no sense at all... and the dubs are awful... :p :p It was amusing, in the WTF kind of way.

Do you think Versus would be a good name for a gladiator?

It's a cool word. I think it should be spelled out.
Agreed.
Edit: Raistlin, it's actually Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I thought I'd correct you so that you know how dumb it looks with Willy Wonka in the title.

versus, you can't figure out its hidden mysteries if it's just vs.
And isn't what this word was made for? To destroy all mysteries and doubts? If I went with vs. I would irrevocably be going up against everything it stood for.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" . . . didn't Charlie own the factory already in the book?
The movie is called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and the chocolates are called "Wonka Bars."
Versus is a cool word but it is inconvenient. I prefer v
Charlie and the . . . etc. v Willy Wonka and the . . . etc.
