Cavemen beating skulls and well-timed grunts (not too different than our rapper relatives). Probably even before then, but that's the earliest I remember.

I don't know, but that's a likely guess. I figure humans were making "music" before we were human. Many primates, especially the great apes, are quite fond of making music. So, monkeys invented it, and we improved it.

Idiots. There is no such thing as music.

There's noise, and then there's the perverted sense of enjoyment or suffering that humans receive while hearing them.

Edit: Maybe I shouldn't be so unkind. Look, you'll learn so much about this stuff when you start taking humanities courses that you'll never even want to know. You'll gain an interest in math and nearly come to the point of becoming an accountant! It'll be a miserable ordeal, but you'll get through it, and when you succeed, you shall know the many answers to this question and many others.
