View Full Version : On moving to Midgarsormr

I've hit probably one of the most dull and uninteresting parts of FFXI. Finding a party is impossible, making gil is ludicrously slow, there's no new missions to go on, etc. Long story short, I'm bored with my current game.

Should I jump over to Midgarmormir?

I'm under no illusions that the server is like some sort of constant rave party with awesome flashing lights or anything, but starting over with a different class might make the game more interesting.

But there are of course some considerations...

I'd have to start all over again from Level 1 just to do this, which means retreading a LOT of old territory. I've gotten some decent stats and equipment for myself, so abandoning would sorta make all I've done in the game so far meaningless.

Now here's the real question.

Is it worth it anyway?

And as for my new class... How about Monk?

I still haven't gotten the game yet, but from what I've heard there are alot of boy eoffers on midgarmormir. I don't know what world you're on right now so I don't know if that would help but at least you should be able to find people to talk with or whatever that you even know already. Can't give you any help with the class stuff.

Trust me as long as your on redlotus every time you log on is a party ^^

jkjkjk. But it'd be nice to see a new face around ^^. Plus I could always help you with anything you needed. As for Monk I had fun with it, it's always an intertesting job. But later on the gils just start to flow for it. Plus what race would you be?

PM me for anything WP, PL, gil Im your elvaan/galka/tarutaru ^^

Okay, so far it seems like a good idea... anyone think it's not worth starting from scratch?

You'd be suprised. Midgardsormr is the place to be! =P

I've deleted two level 40 characters before, it's not that hard to get back up to level 40 for one job. Also, I'd suggest just taking a couple of weeks break before you start again, if you start again. Because you're probably more burnt out than you realise.

It can be worth it, depends what kind of mind set you have on the game. Try out a few other MMORPG's if you would like, and see if this game is truely what you want to come back to. (I would not suggest WoW, however... I left for it, and it goes from really good at level 1, gradually decreasing to extremely crap at level 60)

Monk is a good, fun and easy class to take. It does get a bit hectic later on with finding parties, unless you have a static. My dear friend ended up leaving FFXI for good because his MNK (at level 45 I think it was) didn't get enough parties to keep going at a constant rate, he worked really hard to get over 4 million gil worth of equiptment too (not including rare/ex stuff).

It's up to you though, I know cases where monks do excellent. =)
Just a matter of what kind of play style you want: DD, Tank, Heal, Solo, Enfeeble, Buff.

I am on Midgardsormr, so I don't mind getting world passes or anything since I don't really have a problem with gil anymore.

I don't talk to a lot of the people from here, though, unfortunately, since I have my own business to attend to most of the time and our paths rarely come across each other's unless I find myself running around doing random quests. Aside from that, I'm either locked in a Mog House, out leveling, or in some weird Chains of Promathia area, so I can't usually be out to help, but I'll try!

I probably wouldn't worry too much about the deleting all those levels thing - generally, whenever I replay a game I delete my save that has all the uber stuff and start from scratch. I can see how this would be slightly different though because of the exponentially more amount of time MMORPGs take.

Ouch!

Midgardsormr is the only home on FFXI I'll ever have, mostly because of the people who are on it with me. The Red Lotus is a pretty close-knit bunch with quite a few EoFFers. Omecle, Lord Chainsaw, Vaprice, Lionx, and myself Red Lotus members who frequent these here fora, and all of us 'cept Chainsaw (I rarely see him on anymore, but that might be timing) are on quite often and usually available to help out. There might be others I'm not remembering right now, though.

As far as starting over, I've done it quite a few times and it hasn't bothered me yet. Granted I haven't ever bothered to level anything past Lv30, but I still put a lot of time into the characters doing various other things. If anything, I'm enjoying starting over again after quitting and coming back.

It's really up to you, but Midgardsormr is quite a fun place. It's always more fun to be around others you're familiar with.

Might as well hear it from a newb. :D
Midgard is one of the highest EOFF populated servers, so you're bound to get some help for whatever you're planning to do. Unless It has anything to do with WAR/WHM. ;) I mean, I started out in there, and I got quite a bit of help. Not saying you cant get help or friends in any other server, but the more people you know, the more help you'll get, most likely. :p
I am willing to buy you a worldpass, If you want.

I'm also interesting in moving to Midgarsormr, but am wondering if this is a good idea. :x I'm more of a newbie and I don't know if I should get a few lvls under my belt, before thinking about heading over there or jump ship before I put too much time and effort into my character? :x I just recently got my hands on this game a few days ago and I'm not too against giving the server I'm on a try, but I can't help but feel I must be missing out on something. o_o Either way, I'd definitely would appreciate a point in the right direction, as I'm feeling lost. =D

I am on midgard with most of the beta people from NA Beta. :)

If you really need any help at all, just give me a /tell and i will try my best to help you and personally if possible. So if you really like to party with some EoFFers and need help just ask for a World Pass and /tell us in the game once you are able to control your character and we will help you asap as long as we arent busy helping someone ^^;

Dang, that settles it, I'm gonna make the swtich. If someone posts a world pass I'll use it. If not, I'll just do the good ole' create/delete/re-create trick tomorrow or wednesday, depending.

Thanks guys :)

Actually i am getting a World Pass right now for Super Christ, so anyone else that needs it here i will PM.

EDIT: It seems i already have one active that expires tommorow. Its been used by:

Strawberryman
Gullwing(i think)
SuperChrist
DJZen
Ayotori

which is 5 so thats the entire pass used. It expires tommorow and i should have given you the pass # correctly. If it is NOT correct please PM me again. If it is please go on the game if you can and /tell me ^^ i am currently in Bastok but i can quickly move about. So if you are starting in Bastok tell me so i dont waste time. I am going to AFK a little while but will be back soon. ^^ Have fun.

Thank you so much for the advice. =x When I make it there, I'm definitely up for partying, though I'll probably be a low lvl and clueless WHM for a while. =/

(Also I've tried the delete/recreate trick a few days ago, but I've only managed to get one of two worlds... out of 30 or so? ...though I hear Midgardsomr is not in the rotation of worlds?)

---

Edit: As not to spam. The worldpass worked and I'm "Kierethe", lvl 1 WHM. =D Also, not two seconds after I logged in I was felt up by two guys. I stared at them and they ran away from me. :x What kind of place is this!? I'm kidding, I'm kidding. People are exceptionaly friendly. =P I definitely feel the community. (I'm in Windurst, but no need to run after me. I think I'll kill a few monsters first, or enjoy the sights.)
