Ok.
Everynow and then a virus will take effect on my msn and open a instant message online and send them this.
"rofl is this you?"
This is annoying as some of my friends have it and It slows my comp down. I was wondering if anyone had been able to get rid of it?

P.S you can click on the link and download it but just dont open the program.

I don't think you should link that, maybe you should just write URL and unclick the "Automatically parse links in text" thing. I had that for AIM. It's not fun, but I don't think it was something extremely bad. My computer died, but not about that, I think. My computer has died too many times to remember/

Good call. Unfortunately I can't help with this, but I removed the actual link and left the text. Mainly because I was bored.

Search Google for the filename and I'm sure someone there will have already have had this same virus and figured out how to get rid it. I had this on my MSN Hotmail before and that's what I did. I ended up downloading Kerspersky and that got rid of it for me.

Are MSN viruses actaully getting malicious? Back when I used MSN more they were more of an annoyance. There was a MyPicture.exe thing that automatically sent itself to other users on your list. But that's it... that's the only thing it did. And only did it once as far as I was aware. I figure it was either a test or a prank. But it was harmless. Every other MSN virus I've heard of was similar. People had no idea what they did but didn't experience any real problems.

AVG does a pretty good free Virus scan.

Does AVG still offer it's free version though? That's the problem :p

It does I think? I still have it and it still works. It updated itself to avg7 recently.

Is this not it? (http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg70free_308a468.exe)

The trial stuff is just for the 'advanced' version or something I think?

MMM.
Try this tool
BLAU (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bropia.removal.tool.html)
It is the removal tool for the bropia virus - almost exactly to yours - sends out pictures...

Or this tool
Blau (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.kelvir.removal.tool.html)
Another variant.

Or try dis:
1. go to task manager, right click on the program that looks out of place (it'll be the only one running when everything else is closed); mine was called msn addons7.
2. click 'go to process', and have a look at what's highlighted when you do that (mine something like 'processhome.exe')
3. delete this
4. search for anything else that was created at the same time
5. voila!

Upgrading msn messenger might work as well.

I laugh at people who download AVG professional edition illegally.

Most viruses on MSN are .exe files. (hint, hint)

most of mine were in .doc, I downloaded them because I thought they were badass doctors and/or rappers :(
