Is this the best song... like ever?
I cry a little each time I hear it, I can't help myself. :crying2:

So what do you think of the song?

It's definitely the best song in the series.

Oh god that song...makes me not feel very great. It's making me feel all sad and nostalgic. :(

I like it, but I think I like "To Zanarkand" from FFX more.

While I don't think that it is the best, I think it is very nice and like it very much.

Don't know what poll option to vote for.

And it hasn't ever made me cry so..... *shrugs*

Yeah, there really should have been a couple more options at least. I like it.

Which song is this on FFVII?

It's an excellent piece, but not even the best sad piece from FFVII (which I would deem to be Aeris' Theme).

You hear it when you're riding the Gondola during the story portion.

Oh yes, that one. I was just on that part last night actually. It was an ok song, but there's loads better on FFVII. That one definetely hit the tone for that sequence, especially if you have Aeris as your partner.

*SPOILERS!!*

It's a very beautiful song, but not the best. I think it's meant as a love theme for Cloud and Tifa/Aeris. If I remember correctly, it plays three times in the game. First during Cloud's date with Aeris/Tifa/Yuffie. Then when Cait Sith predicts at the Temple of the Ancients how Cloud and Aeris will turn out (the scene is even more special if you have both Aeris and Tifa in your party during that scene). And finally, when Tifa hears in Mideel that Cloud had been found and she's so hopeful that she can finally see Cloud again. Poor Tifa, then she discovers Cloud's head is completely messed up and that she can get absolutely no contact on him.

As for whose date this song best matches, I think it's better for Tifa. Aeris tells Cloud she wants to meet the real Cloud and Yuffie kisses Cloud (and then slaps him :D), but Tifa tries so hard to gather her courage to confess her feelings for Cloud, but she just can't do it, and then she gets interrupted by the fireworks. It's a pretty emotional scene between Cloud and Tifa there.

Although this is a very nice thread, I don't think any of the choices on the poll match my opinion concerning the song. That's why, I won't vote for the time being.

Not really. Of all of the songs in the game that invoke emotion, that one would be low on my list.

Cid's Theme, Aeris' Theme, and some other ones are a lot better for me.

it's alright, but certainly not THAT great. I' hardly ever cry, and definitely not during this song. It's not the worst either...

which do I pick!? AAHH!

I didn't pick.

Playing it on the piano has a special feeling to it. However, I think it would be better played by a small ensemble. In either case, I don't think it is the best song on the OST, but it is among my top 10 favorites on that OST.

It's the Best!

Actually, I'm alwasy indecisive, but I'm sure that I've chosen the BEST option as I'm listening to the music right now.

well, it may be a love theme, but I prefer to call it a sorrowful theme as it's still being played when Cait Sith remained at the temple to solve the puzzles. It's also the time when I 'noticed' Cait Sith. hmmm, he said sth very emotional and meaningful that time. After the event, I'd changed my thought regarding that fact I don't like robots or machines. Now that, I'm sure that robots somehow have feelings too because....I'm playing Xenosaga Episode 1 !!!

For what it's worth, the theme describes the relationship between humans and robots, like Cait Sith and Cloud's party, Aeris and Cloud. (Hey, Cloud is ROBOT, at least he's trying to shut himself off; Aeris was searching for real Cloud that's the proof! ) Fireworks???? it must be some kinds of barrier between them. some examples of barrier: black materia, Cloud's past and Aeris's identity and role...... All these things keep them far, far away..

.... I don't remember the event at MIdeel

I like it very much. But it always makes me cry, especially when it's first starting off. Thank you for posting the mid file though, Chris. I've been wanting to have it for a while now.

yeah it is a great atmospheric song but there's one or two more i prefer - like the track that plays when aeris white materia falls into the lake (or is this the track that plays there?!?) - and the track that plays when cloud is sleeping and a voice is talking to him, that one is so spine chilling - but jus as an awesome track i like the turks theme - so it would definatley be in my top 5

I picked the best. Cause it is definately one of the best in this game. But it doesn't make me cry, though I do become nostagilic.

No vote from me since there's no "Good song, not cry worthy" choice. It's a really good song, and I have a superb acoustic version on my winamp. But it's not the best song ever, nor do I feel the need to cry to it.

I think it is a very good song. There are a lot of great songs in the Final Fantasy series. My favorite, and the one that got me hooked on Final Fantasy music was "To Zanarkand" from Final Fantasy X.
