What the Hell is "Chicken Fried Steak"?

Seriously, what is it? I've lived in hell for almost 5 years now, and before I came here I never heard of such a thing, and it's been all I hear about here, yet I still don't know what it is. o_O

It's probably the fake steak they make out of chicken meat but they somehow make it look/taste somewhat like steak...? ^__^

Yeah, chicken fried steak is a heart-attack machine. It's great.

It's basically a cheap cut of steak that's tenderized a bit, then battered (like chicken) and fried. Served with a type of gravy over it, usually made with the sauces/oils/etc. that are in the pan when you're done cooking. It tastes better than is sounds.

How can you live in OK and not know what chicken fried steak is?

That looks well tasty. Without the sauce it'd probably be a bit more cardio-friendly though. I almost wet myself when I saw the salad smothered in that lard derivative in the first picture - would you really be better off eating that?

yes, chicken fried steak and country fried steak are the same thing. We used to get it for lunch in grade school. It's pretty good, but very unhealthy.

I believe the meat used for chicken (country) fried steak is called cube steak. At least that's what mom always bought when she made the meal. I guess it could be made with round steak too. :p Making me kind of hungry. Especially after seeing all of the yummy grease gravy on top. xD
