Seriously, what were they thinking when they made these characters? Did they actually think that you would use them? Their special abilities are horrible! I don't even know why anyone would want to use them, there are so many other better characters to use. Using Rafa and Malak is a death sentance.
What about you? Do you actually find them even remotely useful? I really tried to give them a chance, but they such SO BAD it's not even funny ;_;
My name is...something..?

I didn't use them, but I don't think that they are bad per se.
They just weren't that good to use for my play style.
Especially, since by the time I got them I already had characters that overshadowed them in everyway.
I probably would have used them though, had I had a few more places in battle.
Since, I don't see an option that appeals to me I'm just going to vote that they are useful, I guess.

Just like any Special Character, if you know what do do with them, they are far superior to any generic Character because of all the things they can do that Generic characters Cannot.
I found them both very useful.

Yes, that is true, I forgot about that.
I still don't really consider them useful. I find normal mages do more damage, and are more dependable. I'm still not really sure 'how' they are useful.

Yeah anyway, the game lulled you into the sense that they have pretty strong magic. Rafa's at her best when she's a guest vs. Malak & crew. (A party sent to assasinate Ramza.) You have to 'save' her, but she pretty much takes care of herself in that battle... Otherwise they are very useless, even as wizards, priests, time mages or even oracles. Their magic is weak and their physical attacks are only so-so. Rafa & Malak just have a neat backround that helps add to the story.

I would've split the poll actually.
I found Rafa useful in my last playthrough with Move-Find, although I don't use Truth. She makes an excellent Mediator.
I still haven't found a use for Malak and I don't use Untruth.

I tried leveling up one of them once but she was no good. Innovative job skill, but not very practical or menacing. The girl is certainly good for treasure hunting.
If you can corner an enemy, they turn from benign to deadly.

yes both Truth and Un-Truth skills are useful in situations whare you can target someone so that it only targets very few panels. Making it most useful on terrain that is very tall/steep because the huge diffrances in hight help to give you better target ares and such.
I found them useful but you need to get used to them.... thier skills are less intuitive than most other characters.

Well, I knew about that, however I find places like that rare. So it basically amount to them being 'rarely' deadly, or putting more effort into 'positioning' the enemy so that you have a better chance of hitting them. I've tried it many times and I've just found it more often than not more trouble than it's worth.

I compleatley Understand what your saying. But really is any Character skills worth maore than the effort you put in.
Any character is only as good as you make them. I truely Believe that under certian Cercumstances Rafa/Malak Could Whoop Cid's Ass in a 1 vs 1 Fight.. But yes 7/10 times that fight will go in Cid's Favor because of the Tarrain layout. I dont know.. I think they are usefull depending on your playing style and the map layout.

I'll admit, I actually LIKE the idea of truth and untruth. It's kind of a fun idea, really.
I wish it was tweaked a little bit, though.
I'm going to work with them this playthrough and see if I can make them useful.

Take away anyones weapon and they're a wimp, unless of course they're a Monk. When he DID have his weapon he crushed everyone.

yes Cid is teh uber for all n00bs.
he is far too overpowered and his moves are intuitive.
If Rafa and Malak's Skills are used Properly you can hit the target every time, it just takes a lot of planning and some skill.

Well, I find both Rafa and Malak useful. I like to have an all non generic team when possible. So, i must at least have them on the force.
Rafa makes a brilliant Summoner or Time mage. Her high faith can deal some MONSTER damage with summons. Also low brave = move Find Item specialist. I never use truth sole'y on the fact that it doesnt hit as often as i'd like and the damage it does is on par with that of decent black magic. Next time you use her make her a Preist, or a black mage and tell me she isn't one of the best possible mages in FFT.
Malak, being the polar opposite of Rafa, has high brave and low faith. This makes him a mage slayer extrordinaire. His low faith makes him take far less damage from magic than standard units. His high brave makes him hit harder physically that most other units too. Make him a ninja, see how fast he mows down enemies. He's better than Ramza and Agrias at physical attacking.
Downsides:
Rafa - Can't take a hit from a magician or most physical attackers too. keep her in the back and sh'e do wonders.
Malak - because of low faith, he rarely gets positive spells to work on him. it took me 6 casts of haste to finally get him hasted. Also, when healed using cure spells, he gains far less than everyone else. If he dies, raising him with magic is really hard to do. If you wanna support Malak on the field, use items. Potions and phoenix downs never let you down.

well Brave and Faith can be Changed so Any Unit Can be a High Faith Mage or a High Brave and Low Faith Melee.
You should have raised Rafa's Brave once your done using her as a Move-Find person.
Anyway, Those are other ways to use them, even if any generic unit could do the same.

Rafa and Malak are some what of a usefull daul characters but still some things they can't do malak sucks at almost everything but then as soon as i change them both to meditators they were good with that then soon other abilites were being used by them but don't count both of them to get the same stuff right.
