I'm also busy with exams...

You should turn off your computer, pull out the powercord, and move to another room.

Too many distractions will keep you from your work! :P

I have trouble with individual details, but the big picture is usually easy if you write up a quick outline first.

The intro paragraph is the hardest. Then everything just flows along. ^_^

My essays never flow for me :( I'm always stalled for at least 7 minutes whenever I'm in the middle of one because I always get distracted by my own damn thoughts (mostly boys :rolleyes2) and plus I'm not very good at English even though I'm a B average speaker and apparently good at writing and it's the only damn language I know. Damn literature!

I never had problems with essays since I started college. In high school, though, they asked for the most impossible things to write about. Usually, I like planning before I actually write. Just get a scrap piece of paper and write down points that you would want to discuss in your essay. It works for me.

Yeah..I hate essays and exams in general, even though I studied English Lit at A-Level and had loads of them >_< I got worse though and just got really sick of essays after that. Web design = no essays. Yay!

yep essays suck, espcially when you have to write an essay for your exam and you have a mind-block. What sometimes works for me is eat a banana! no joke, just eat a banana or any type of fruit and your mind will hopefully clear up

I hate mental block.
Considering I love writing short stories, I also hate Mental Block, as I can't write or think of anything. :(

write it by hand and then type/revise it later. that way the computer can't distract you.

Once the bs starts flowing there's no stoping you.

krissy: In uni you cite block quotes and say, "this proves my thesis".

Well, Boris no no, you'll just have start writing about something related to it & it'll come to you! :D
Just babble on & it'll come out! :p That's what I did in me English exam & I got me Grade. But GCSEs are a bit easier than University exams. :greenie:

Why dont' you do some brainstorming?
Just write EVERYTHING that comes to your mind, even the silliest and most absurdous. Then leave the room for enough time to rest your mind a little, come back and put some order in it trying to keep interesting ideas and throw away all the rest. Believe me, it works!

This reminds me when I write game reviews. Sometimes it's harder than I think to describe how I feel about something.

My name is...something..?

I finished my exams a week ago.
I had to write an essay but it wasn't too hard.
I always stress out over the things.

*shudders* essays...I went to the Dovedale valley for GCSE Geography...if we'd had to do geographical features i would have died... conservational techniques were boring enough... i hate essays. but climbing up the hills at Dovedale and nearly rolling down them again was fun! Good luck with the essay!
