The Final Fantasy Legend games are SaGa games. They were renamed Final Fantasy when they were released in America, given that FF had at least a bit of name recognition.

>>> I see.. it was like Mystic Quest. They shouldn´t have done that, it only confuses people..

Mystic Quest was a full-fledged FF game. I believe it was made by Square's US office, but I could be completly wrong. Regardless, it was an FF game.

It's more like Final Fantasy Adventure, which was originally another game in Japan, which I cant remember... someone will come and correct me.

>>> Well maybe I dont know the real deal about MQ, but I think it cant be a FF game.
After all Square Japan is the real thing and I dont think Square's US office has the right to create its own FF games..

It's not like they just randomly did it on their own. Square is Square, FF is FF. Bad game or not, it's an FF.

>>> Im even more confused now , in all the years i have spent in this forums, lots of people have said and keep saying that MQ isnt a real FF game..

Someone must be wrong..

FF adventure was one of the seiken densetsu's, the original I believe

Yeah, Seiken Densetsu sounds right.

Square wasnt careless, they were thinking logically. FF already had a fan base, albeit a small one. So they could either a) market the game by its original name, in a time when RPGs werent at all mainstream or b) market it by an FF name, which gave it at least a fighting chance. Although it is annoying the way Square screwed up the names and numbers, I can easily see their reasoning.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was made in Japan, but it was intended for an American audience.

Makai Toushi SaGa for the WonderSwan Color is a remake of the original Makai Toushi SaGa for the GameBoy, which was called The Final Fantasy Legend outside of Japan.

Despite all the MQ bashing that goes on, I think it's a cute little game.

*sigh* okay, here we go....

Original Japanese Title (American Title)

Makaitoushi SaGa (The Final Fantasy Legend)
SaGa 2 Hihou Densetsu (Final Fantasy Legend II The Search for Truth)
SaGa 3 Jikuu no Hasha (Final Fantasy Legend III)
Romancing SaGa (never released in America)
Romancing SaGa 2 (never released in America)
Romancing SaGa 3 (never released in America)
SaGa Frontier (SaGa Frontier)
SaGa Frontier 2 (SaGa Frontier 2)
Unlimited Saga (Unlimited SaGa)

Square tended to name things what they're actually called after they started making games for PS1. Kind of nice, actually.

Makaitoushi SaGa (Final Fantasy Legend)
SaGa Frontier 2 (SaGa Frontier)Actually The Final Fantasy Legend and SaGa Frontier 2.

The remake of the original Romancing SaGa for PS2 is called Romancing SaGa: Minstrel's Song. I think they're just calling the American version Romancing SaGa, since it'll be the first time they've ever released one of the Romancing titles out here.

Makaitoushi SaGa (Final Fantasy Legend)
SaGa Frontier 2 (SaGa Frontier)Actually The Final Fantasy Legend and SaGa Frontier 2.

An oversight and a typo, sue me. ;P
