Valkurm Dunes, the best place EVER

I'm just finishing up my fourth time going through the dunes, and it's better than ever!

So list the hilarious things that you've done, or witnessed in the dunes

- A party leader insisted rather forcefully insisted that we form an alliance to get more kills.
- A level 18 white mage joined my party today said "I dont hav a map, sum1 come get me!" and then proceeded to cry when we all burst out laughing and kept on laughing for a good 2 minutes.
- White/Black Mage melee!

I just got back from a party in Valkurm Dunes. It was okay. The people in Valkurm are generally more social, so at least you can have a nice conversation while you only get up to EXP Chain #1.

iv jus finnished off my second visiting to the dunes, and i remember someone (dont ask me who) calling it the "Sands of Death/Doom" altho if your have people who know what they are doing (which on the second time round nearly everyone did: i could of sworn that the DRK we had in my party had bought his account on the internet as he insisted the DRK could be a main tank, i said to him ((after a heated discussion) that if he was fool enough not to trust my words that i would let him tank for one round and the if he died it wasnt my fault as i and everyone else in the party, told him that he would most likely die. after the first hit he took he was crying for me to take over as tank, which i did of corse and then said those imortal words "i told you so"... the fool) anyways back to my main point. not once did i or my party die so i dont know why all these people fear it so, as i think its great!

Let's see, I've been in the Dunes as a WAR three times, as a MNK three times, as a THF once, as BLM twice, as a WHM once, as a PLD once, and as a RNG once.

I've been through the good and the bad. I've had some magnificent parties with people who knew what they were doing, and then I've had parties where I felt that most everyone else was a bonehead. In those cases I usually find the one other person in the party who knows what they're doing and have a conversation via /tells discussing why we're doomed. Sometimes we even place bets to see how long we can go without someone dying. ^_^

Yesterday alone I played as a DRK, and a DRG. Lvled DRg to lvl 18 and lvled DRK to 11. The DRK was all right, I didnt like playing that as much as a DRG. But when I switched to DRG first battle....an idiot kills my dukey poo....who apparently pulled 2 flies and which I told him to zone...but did he listen? Did he even know what it meant? Not a clue was thios oversized galkan insolent n00b fool..............but other tyhan that the pt's later on went very superb. They were both fun, at one point in time we had an exp chain of 6. Which we didnt have a pl for that pt.

A DRK MNK and SAM can tank at valkurm, they just need to have up to date armor and for the DRK to not use DEF down and ATK up skills. Given the armor a DRK can access i am sure they can tank, but they probably arent as efficient as damage dealing is all. A MNK can tank under 30ish because weaksauce monsters, just focus on DEF gear, same with SAM somewhat.

I start my own parties and try to invite higher ranked players unless i know them personally. So i rarely get bad parties...just subpar at worst.

Ahhh the dunes. I'm sure a scenario like this has happened to you guys at least a couple of times:

Me>>Ok I'll be in the dunes in a few minutes.

*arrives in 5 minutes*

Party>> Cool PT is full, lets start.

*Kills 2 mobs, the tank LVs up*

Tank>> sorry guys, I gtg *leaves pt*

*waits 20 minutes for replacement*

Party>> got new tank

*waits 20 minutes for tank to arrive*

Tank>> ok I'm here
Main healer>> sorry guys I gtg *leaves*

*waits 20 minutes for replacement*

Party>> ok we got a healer

*waits 20 minutes for healer to arrive*

Main healer>> Ok guys I'm here

*kills 2 mobs*

Main healer>> I gtg *leaves pt*

*lather rinse and repeat*

Anyways, the only bad party that comes to mind is when I partied with Miriel in the dunes.

Me= PLD
Her= BLM

-_- ... Miriel likes to overnuke so she gets hate, I swear she overnukes RIGHT after I use Provoke so I have to wait 30 seconds before I can voke off her and our taru warrior in level 10 armor (we were pretty much 16-17) has to get beat to death 'cause of HER 'till I can voke off him! >_<

"STOP OVERNUKING FFS!"
"But I want to get hit so I can use Drain!"
"... *suicide*"

Then our warrior leaves and we get a ninja replacement. (I was the leader at the time, but the warrior had picked his own replacement when he left) ... So now we have this ninja tank, after I wasted gil on crab and +vit gear to level with Miriel. >_< Damnit! Stupid ninjas...
