I've always known about the Inn... I particularly like how each room contributes a little bit to the game. Cloud's experience in the Group Room is amusing; his psychotic episode in the %$&# room is disturbing but brilliant foreshadowing of what happens later. Then in the other two locked rooms, you've got a rare glimpse at the social side of Shinra's heirarchy, and a sneak preview of Cait Sith, and Reeve's parents. I think it's quite significant that his parents aren't too wealthy; this could help to explain why he's such a humanitarian-in-disguise.
