Did I post about this before? Anyway the laptop my uncle left in my care that kept rebooting is doing it waaaay too often. A recap --

X30 thinkpad
reboots during post as well as if I accidentally make it to windows
I've removed and reset the dimm and the HDD
I've tried to boot without the hdd installed -- still shuts off
I'm mad/sad/givened up

What is there left to do? Also the IDE HDD I brought from canada won't 'boot' when I plug it in using my usb device...-_-

Try the ram in another laptop, check the fans.

Check all the BIOS settings. My computer used to have the odd habit of magically turning on after shut down because I accidentally had "wake on modem" turned on.

Other than that, try the RAM or check the temperature to make sure it's not overheating.

Yeah, give us your temp readout in BIOS. If your BIOS has an option to shutdown your system if it goes over a given temp, disable and see if it'll still reboot. Try out several cold boots where you've left the system off for a while and see how long before the system reboots again.
