Before posting in this forum, please check this thread to see if your question is already answered. There are a lot of simple questions that gets asked frequently that you can find here.

<b>How do I get a little picture under my name?</b>

To get your avatar, click "Settings" in the top right. On the left-hand side of your CP, go to Edit Avatar. From there, you can either select from one of the pre-made avatars or upload your own. Uploaded avatars can only be up to 80x80 pixels and max of 20kb in size in .gif, .jpg, .bmp, or .png format.

<b>How do I get a picture in my signature?</b>

First, make sure your picture meets the requirements listed on the Edit Signature page:

<font size="1">A maximum width of 600 pixels.
A maximum height of 250 pixels.
These include any text in the signature outside images.
Total file size of all images combined must not exceed 200 KiB (204,800 bytes).
Any signatures not following these or any signatures with questionable or problematic content will be removed/edited by staff, and you may have your signature editing privileges temporarily disabled if this happens several times.</font>

Then, get it uploaded to a host. Photobucket (http://photobucket.com) is a good candidate. <b>Images linked off your hard drive will not show up on anyone's computer but your own.</b> The one question that always gets asked in this step is, "Where can I get a free host?" Check out the Signature Service thread and see if anyone on there will be nice enough to host for you. Most usually are.
Once that's out of the way, go to your Settings, click on the Edit Signature link, and use the img tag, like so:

http://www.yourhost/path/to/your/image.jpg

Most bbcode can be used in signatures. For more on bbcode, check out this page (http://forums.eyesonff.com/misc.php?do=bbcode) for code and usage.

<b>How do I become a Cid's Knight/Administrator/Developer/Recognized Member?</b>

Cid's Knights are the moderators of the board and are chosen by the staff. The usual response for becoming this is "don't call us, we'll call you." Earning the trust of the staff, being productive on the board, and sticking around for a long time are a good way of getting in, though at any given time the staff has just the right amount, and unless someone steps down, there aren't many openings.
Administrators and Developers are limited and are based on the same situation as Cid's Knights.

<b>How do I get text under my name?</b>

If you're not referring to the titles of the previous section, you must be talking about Custom Titles. Custom Titles are given to users after eight months of activity on the forums. Once given, you can change them by going into your Settings and editing the Custom User Title in the Edit Profile section.

<b>How do I use the chat room?</b>

There are two methods for this:
Go to Chat: IRC - Eyes on Final Fantasy Forums (http://forums.eyesonff.com/chat_irc.php) and click "Connect"
- or -
Use an IRC program like mIRC, Trillian, or Gaim, and use the following fields:
server: irc.calindora.com
port: 49233
channel: #eoff

<b>How do I post in Visitor Messages?</b>

Visitor Messages are restricted until you have been registered for one week and made at least ten posts. You can read others' and post in your own VMs until then, but not post them to others.

<b>How do I change my name?</b>

PM anyone with the title "Administrator" with your request. <b>Do not PM a Cid's Knight!</b> Only administrators can change names, and you have to keep your new username for one year before you can have another name change... if it's approved.

<b>What is the "wiki?"</b>

The wiki is a user-made tome of information regarding the forum. If you want to brush up on your EoFF history and find out who's who and what's what, I recommend reading it.

<b>Where can I view my post count?</b>
<!-- You can't. EoFF did away with post counts long ago because they encouraged spam. People say that you can tell by searching for your name using the Search function, but that's inaccurate due to regular forum prunes. We're looking for quality over quantity here. -->
Recently we re-enabled post counts. You can view them only in certain forum styles and they are typically displayed near your join date or location. You can also go to your profile and click "View all posts by this user" but this may be inaccurate for some users due to past pruning. FYI, we don't put much stock in post counts. Quality over quantity!

<b>How do I get into the Album?</b>

Currently, everyone has their own album in their profiles. To look at other albums, click the "All Albums" link in the top toolbar.

I think that's it. If I forgot or messed anything up, feel free to change it.

Good work Hsu.

<b>Can you tell me how to use html?</b>
No, but <a href=http://forums.eyesonff.com/member.php?u=7687>Flying Mullet</a> has provided these handy links:

Here's a good link for how to do loads of basic html stuff: http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/teachingtool/index.html.
And here's a link to a list of html tags, just as you requested: http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/reference/html_cheatsheet/.

[edit- Lycos closed down its l33t webdevelopeer pages, but there's still the good ol' http://funky-chickens.com/ and http://lissaexplains.com/basics.shtml to learn HTML basics and if you want something that isn't as childish and a little more indepth, http://www.w3schools.com/ is both of these. -rubah]

How do I make a link?
Using BBCode, you just type:
[<b></b>url=http://www.yourlink.com]The text for your link.[/<b></b>url]
And that's it. For more, see the above post for BBCode and HTML help.

<b>I can't see certain people's usernotes. Why is this?</b>

The person has either been usernote banned (usually temporarily), or EoEO/EoTW banned (which incorporates a usernote ban as well.)

This is no longer true ~Levian
