Kingdom Hearts RM2k3 game

Inlight of the recent 1 or 2 games that have been advertised for RPG maker here on EoFF, I decided to download it and give it a try. I don't really know what I'm doing but I think I've pulled together something half decent.

The idea of this game is that you play as a Heartless who wants his Heart back, now it doesn't really make much sense with the real Kingdom Hearts, but who cares? I've made up my own rules.

So far I've made the start of the game and some of Destiny Island, but I'm having trouble getting monster files of Tidus, Wakka, Selphie and Sora, also can't find a Character set of Kairi.

Well, I've sort of finished Destiny Island, although it will take you 5 minutes to complete it. It's not completely done because I couldn't get the monster files for Sora, Selphie, Wakka and Tidus. But I've pretty much given up on that.

So I guess you could play what I've done so far and pretend it's a Demo.

Also, I have a problem that I don't know how to get rid of, whenever the Heartless attacks, his Keyblade appears and he disapears.

Also, I have various guards around my castle, I'll keep them anonymous unless any of you want to be a guard.

I've also added in a Graveyard for banned members, so if you'd like to suggest banned members to go in it and captions to go on their gravestones that'd be great. So far I only have:

hahaha, sounds good. i'm working on a rm2k3 game atm but it's really annoying because i can't figure out how to import. i click import and choose my character sheet and it says that the file is the wrong size, very annoying.

but you should post destiny islands on here, it sounds like it could be a good teaser.

I really don't think the keyblade should be usable by the heartless unless you have a really, REALLY good reason for it, storywise. And I do think the evolution system might be a good idea, allowing you to change into different heartless. And possibly get more on your team that can also evolve so you can customize your team based on different heartless types.

You have to admit, Void, it'd be a pretty difficult task, one Craig most likely isn't up to. Just leave it alone. A heartless with a keyblade is *twitch* fine.

As fun as that would be, Riku was already a former Keymaster. It only makes sense he could wield a Keyblade of any form . . . but a regular heartless? A shrimpy little shadow? Pshaw.

Okay so, I've noticed you don't like the Keyblade idea. And to be honest, neither do I, but it took me 2 seconds to think of this idea and it makes no sense whatsoever with the original Kingdom Hearts in mind.

I like the idea of using "dark powers" but it could be hard to find the battle animations.

The evolution system would also be good, but finding the battle sprites and the charactersets would be very hard. For all I know they don't even exist.

But I agree with both these ideas and I'll give it a try, even if it takes more until I finish the game I can always add it in at the end.

That being said if I do give you guys a demo, which I'm not sure of how to do, you will be wielding the Keyblade.

If you want to know why a Heartless has a Keyblade, then the story is as follows.

A Heartless is attacking some people, he kills this guy and then feels sorry for the guy's daughter. He then is transported to his "Re-awakening" Where he is asked if he'd like to regain his Heart. He accepts and is granted a Keyblade to help him on his journey.

To do this the 4 Princesses of Heart (There are more in KH, but I'm not worried.) have to deem him worthy and help him get it back.

Bare in mind, that when I downloaded RM2k3, I didn't have a story at all, I noticed I could use a Heartless as a characterset and battle sprite, then I thought it'd be cool to play as a Heartless. Then I noticed I could use Keyblades as a weapon, and made up this stupid story in no time at all.

Also i came up with kinda cool idea (atleast i think it´s cool :cool: ). But it might be hard to do. I´m not sure. I just tought that the evolution system might be tough because of the sprites but what if there was some kind of limitbreak/overdrive gauge and when that fills you can morph into a neoshadow for a couple of turns (2 or 3) and the neoshadow has better stats?? It might be easy because you only needed a few neoshadow battle sprites.. or maybe not, i´m not sure as i said ´cause i´ve never used rpgmaker

EDIT: Concidering combining the Inn and Pub.

As for your Limit Break idea, I like it alot. If I can get some more Heartless Battle Sprites, or anything even close to that, and a guide on how to set up Limit Breaks, I will most likely implement it.

I might post the Demo some time in the near future, there are still a good few town members missing though, and I don't know how to post it.

Many creationist stories have made reference to all life coming from the Void (in the beginning there was nothing, God said "Let there be light", etc. etc.). Thus, this boss would represent the Void, the beginning and the end.

This boss shouldn't necessarily be evil, I would say it would be there to test the worth of the Heartless. It could be an optional super boss or not, but the goal of the fight would be more to guide it to regaining its heart, not to destroy it. Possible rewards for defeating Void could be a better keyblade, perhaps an evolution if you are able to fit that in, or something else of use.

Umm, are you talking about your character? Or Behold the Void's? If it's yours then he will give you the Lionheart Keyblade at some point in the game.

I'll add him to the Graveyard now, and also I found a pretty decent Soldier sheet that I could've used for a Battle Sprite on that site, but for some reason on RM2k3 when I try to add in one of the different poses it just shows a black square.

The last boss of the Demo is a monster called Mercy, which Mercen-X requested, and it's not a KH/Squenix monster. As for the last boss of the game, I don't know because I'm making it up as I go along. However it might be Guard Armour or a member of the Organization.

The battle arena sounds good.

I doubt it'd be that hard to implement either. Infact I might start work on it right now.

Well, I'd say once the battle arena is done I've completed the Demo.
There are still things missing, but there isn't much I can do about them at the moment.

If I can find the Battle monsters that match certain sprites (Eg. Cloud, Leon, Tidus, Selphie and Wakkal) then they will be added, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find them.

AL: How do you feel about winning the Leonhart in the battle arena, instead of having it given to you?

That's if I find a monster image of him, if not he won't be in it.

EDIT: Okay, so I made the colliseum (I think. I'm about to test it.) there are a few setbacks though.

It's kinda short.
It's missing certain people I wanted to add (Wakka, Selphie, Tidus, Leon and Cloud) because I can't find monster images for them. I could take them from a site posted here earlier, but the images become blank when put into RM2k3, so they won't be in the Demo. Might have it sorted if/when I finish the game.
There's no Gold Tournament, because I haven't made the next worlds yet, there are no monsters to go into the Gold.
There's a prize for the first round, but none for the rest. This is because I wanted to put Lionheart and Metal Chocobo in the Silver round for fighting Cloud and Leon.

Apart from that, it should be ok. I'm gonna test it out now as I said before, I don't see why it wouldn't work though.

EDIT again: Just tested it, as far as I know it's working fine.

I guess you should do a website with geocities or something like that and upload the demo there and hte website doesn´t have to have anything more than the link to the game. May sound messy but works and is easy (atleast it works if the file is .ZIP but it should work also with other filetypes

Mercen, just delete the one you downloaded, and anybody else for that matter do the same. The service is temporarily unavaible so I'll up the right one when I can. In the mean time I'll see if theres a way to solve that problem you had Mercen, if not you might just need RPG Maker 2003 to play it.

EDIT: Okay, so I'm pretty sure the file is okay to download now. I'm going to look up the problem now. If you're eager to play it download RPG Maker 2003. I still have my installer, but it's 29MB.

EDIT again: I think I've solved the problem. As far as I know, you need RTP to play RPG maker games.

So here (http://downloads.finalgaming.net/download.php?id=9) is a link to the download of the RTP for RP Maker 2003, that being what I used to make the Demo.

I can't confirm it'll work because having RM2k3 it probably wouldn't make a difference to me.

So just try it out.

I like that, it looks good. A chaotic formation of shapes and forms, grotesque, an interesting manifestation of the void to say the least.

That's his dialogue, but I'll change it if you want.


Is your demo ready yet? I deleted the files. Downloaded them again and downloaded the RTP. The screen changes but then changes back and "The file kh system cannot be opened" appears.

Well, I'll check out the problem later. I'm sure there's a logical reason.

Normal sprites don't work, I think they have to have something done to them or something before they can be used in RM2k3. I'll show you what I mean.

Everytime I download the RTP and try to extract it, my computer says the header is damaged and I don't get to open the RTP. Is there another place to download the RTP from?

He Craig i dont mean to be a Bastard... but you dont look very skilled with RM2K3 at all iam sry you just dont... your useing alot of the resorces that where used in the rtp... iam sry it just dosent look very good... The evolution system of the heartless sounds really interesting thought just make sure if you publish this game its good, if you need any help or anything also i can help you iam not that best with rm2k3 but i can help you find resorces, create maps, characters that sorta thing :)

Iam just giving him some advice on how to make his game look much better thats all because i hate to see games that ppl put so much effort into to not come out great in the end i just want him to make it at the best of his ability thats all :)

I think your demo doesn't work because that's not the actual game. You need to make the GameDisk, and then leave it untouched after that. Then, the person simply installs the game or goes into the LHZ (I don't remember if that was it exactly) directly and plays from there. The main folder and LHZ are reliant on eachother. Try that.

Inlight of the recent 1 or 2 games that have been advertised for RPG maker here on EoFF, I decided to download it and give it a try. I don't really know what I'm doing but I think I've pulled together something half decent.

The idea of this game is that you play as a Heartless who wants his Heart back, now it doesn't really make much sense with the real Kingdom Hearts, but who cares? I've made up my own rules.

So far I've made the start of the game and some of Destiny Island, but I'm having trouble getting monster files of Tidus, Wakka, Selphie and Sora, also can't find a Character set of Kairi.

Craig. Somehow I got your game working (don't ask me how, I have no idea) and I found it brilliant! I really want the game to be finished so plz don't quit! In the meantime, I hope you don't mind, but i'm going to contiue the story myself and see wat I come up with.:D :D :D

P.S. It would be nice to have a teammate join you e.g. a neo-shadow.
