In my Year 6 SATs I got an 8+ in math, and a 6 in England and in science.

So as you can see, SATs are completely and totally different in England to the US. But our universities are talking loudly about bringing them over from the US, because they're not happy with the schools and can't tell who the really awesome students are.

Wow - European scores must be different - when I took the test 1600 was a perfect score! lol

At any rate, I think SAT scores are BS, since the only thing they accurately measure is how well you take the SAT. For instance, a friend in high school almost got perfect SAT scores, but she was flunking out of school grade-wise and never went anywhere, where I got relatively low scores after taking the test 3 times (1090), yet I graduated from undergrad with a 3.75 GPA and currently go to an Ivy League grad school. Therefore, no - as opposed to common guidence counseling belief, your SAT scores don't follow you forever, and they certainly don't dictate how smart you are. :) No worries.

Personally I think the test should be abolished on account of it forces high schools to teach towards a test rather than teach things that might be of more signifigance to growing minds than "dog is to puppy as cat is to. . "

i agree. my high school GPA is in the same area as urs, but i don't do so hott on the SAT's. and just for your information, the new SATs are out of 2400, and include a mandatory 25-min essay.

my score seems a lot less impressive on a 2400 point scale than it did on a 1600 point scale. :D

1730, 7 on the essay.

2230

790 on writing (800 multiple-choice, 10/12 on the essay)
760 on the math (which I'm disappointed with)
680 on critical reading.

:D

I feel the same about tests here in England; we spend more time worrying about how to write an essay than we do reading texts in the last couple of years of English, and it's only getting worse.

Also; Zergling.

I got good enough to get into UCLA, but I decided to go to CSULA. Well, actually, the UC system frowns upon early high school grads, so I probably wouldn't have gotten in. :D

Pfft, who wants to go to UCLA anyway?

I did a lot better with my SAT IIs than on my SAT I. Math sections always killed me though.

Yeah, American SATs are different to English SATs.

I can't remember any of mine. :p
EDIT:
Year 6: 5, 5, 5.
Year 9: I can't remember.
I never saw the point in them either. :p

SAT scores don't mean much in the long scheme of things. There are people who received perfect SAT scores and then proceeded to flunk out of university classes.

I got only average scores on the SAT and SAT2, but my university grades are high.

Not much correlation at all.

true. SAT's simply try to measure intelligence. but there are too many factors involved that can skew a persons results. for instance if theyre not a good test taker, or if theyre tired or hungry. so getting a low score doesnt necesarily(sp?) mean that youre not smart. and getting a high one doesnt mean youre a genius either. but it does help :p

I would kick so much more ass on this SAT than the one I took when I was in school. I think I got like 1080/1600

Math:750
Reading/Writing: The rest of the score

Yeah...I thought the conclusions and /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif they ask you to draw from the stories is bull/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif. I say I would do much better today because I am a fairly good writer when that time calls.

Those scores are odd, I remember I got 1468/1600 , 2249/2400 on the other part. I think I did pretty good.

CloudSquallandZidane

640 Math

SAT scores are close enough to ACT. Let's make this thread both, shall we?

Ditto. At least we got out before it turned into an even worse piece of crap.

I only took the old 1600 point one.

I only got 1240 on it.

I got a 1270 on the old SAT and a 1980 on the new one, with a 10 on the essay. I'm pretty happy with the new score, but I'm thinking about taking it again to try to break 2000. :)

May I post my standardized test scores instead? If no, then don't read the following.

Reading - 99%
Luanguage Arts - 98%
Math - 97%
(These are from last year. I haven't received this year's scores.)
